Terratec Producer DMX 6FIRE 24/96

First of all I was looking for a card with a good converter A / D at a reasonable price (2000F max). I use a Roland XV-3080 sound module and a microphone and all I wanted to enter the PC with a good quality. My config: PIII 500, 256MB Ram, 40 GB 7200tr your HD 2.

UTILIZATION

The manual is clear trs, installation inside the PC is made without problem, the connectic comes with the card and the rack is thinking.
In terms of drivers, it was not as simple: the card settle here without problem but a lot of resources, and the ds Premire cost of a second of audio, I ' heard the crack. In fact it must be a single irq of the computer. A tour on the site of Steinberg taught me the need to configure the PC in "PC standard", which requires Reinstalling all the cards in the computer! Worse, sometimes it's not enough that the DMX is on a single IRQ, you must then change the slots inside the computer!

But do not worry, I have a solution: I reformat my your HD, re-install Windows on a clean (without mode not "PC standard" and the miracle, the card works the first time!

Still do not hsiter if interference to play various audio rglages with the control panel of the card (eg: change the size of the DMA) to obtain an audio config nickel.

GETTING STARTED

Nanmois rgale drivers are to use. The control panel is clear and complete. Terratec trs is often a day these drivers.
Cubase, latency is around 3ms! The card can record up to 4 inputs similtans (CD, line in, microphone, numrique in) but I've never served. The analog inputs (mic and line / phono) have a prampli done everything right to the input signal to arrive in the computer with a decent gain but be careful not to over push otherwise a lightweight wind appears (but I quibble).

A minor complaint nanmoins there 2 inputs in (a the rear of the card and one front) and the front entrance is a low background noise but nanmoins Submitted, so I opt for a connection to the rear or no noise.

OVERALL OPINION

I use the DMX6 Fire for 3 months and I am frankly glad trs: it rpond my expectations perfectly. Place a card has a low-end DMX is like moving from a pair of speakers to a hi-fi lambda monitors! The sound is clear trs, prcis, dynamic and suffers no audible distortion. The record is impressive 96kHz/24bit (attention even when the resources of Systm!) I could compare it with a SB Platinum, there is no picture, sound is much more natural on the DMX. One such quality at this price l (1700F) makes the best qualitprix the march.

Apart from some problem of implementation, it is my card idalie. Any composer mao there is something (think you can even connect the turntable and scratch on these compounds!).

The cot "all in one" in the PC I liked.
Moreover, its Features and read the reviews on this site and other DCID me that choice.
No external stuff, just instrumentals virtual microphone. I wanted a simple, efficient production without prtention individual but a "real" sound.
I possde an AMD 1800 +, 333 256Ram, dd 7200T / m, cm Asus A7V 333 (via), W2000.

UTILIZATION

Pb-free installation .... to beginners!

In fact, the sound is pretty good but not record or read without cracking.
I, not without galre (thank you those who have aid), downloaded and installed the latest drivers (V126) but not amlioration, or worse (some displays of Control panel with cabalistic signs).
In addition, the map is defined through the dplacements mouse and motor drive!
I really tried everything. A countless hours to Settings, configure and optimize, site visits etc ... DDIS

The drivers are full but I do not know what to say what I have to write.
WaveLab Lite 2 is provided with the card but is insufficient to trs treatment slightly pointed.
I also Cubasis but in both cases the cracking me rot life.
Latency seems good against trs (asio 2).

OVERALL OPINION

I spar this card after one month when I apperu shipset the sound of my motherboard worked better without cracking! (Of course no question in this case record).
If you intrress by your choice of this card, it is impractical visit the forums to get a suitable advice.
It talks almost as same pb.
Too many hours lost in the hardware and not on music. Too bad because I liked the sound.
I bought from a Mr. Audio Delta 66 + omni i / o nickel and everything went right the first time!
Problem of multimedia sound card?

Great converters, S / N ratio trs good asio 2.0 (5ms latency with me), lots of connections! No need for a micro amp or headphone amp, you set the gain facade on the rack. Optical, coaxial, and finally we have the choice to use. Possibility to connect a 5.1 kit on it.
Only minor complaint: no GM synth (noon), but anyway sounds GM sound card are rarely correct on what I tried so far, and it was a GM synth software right on the cd (Sound Canvas).

UTILIZATION

Installation in some capricious, but at home in 10 minutes chrono, unpacking to the first record!
Think read the manual, the FAQ and the readme after the installation is done (with the latest drivers from Terratec site), or alternatively read the tips on the forum and it does not meet any problem!

GETTING STARTED

Drivers moderately stable desfois leaving cubase sound card does not emit more (must restart cubase and exit back).
Difficult to use multiple ASIO applications at the same time in some cases, it goes with configuration.
All ASIO software work perfectly if I get 5ms latency without crackling, I have not tried yet below.

A nice card for beginners in the mao with a very good sound, recommend a solution for audio recording requiring a small number of tracks, and also recommend to play software samplers / vsti from a master keyboard.
I would do without this choice hsiter!

APRS two years galres variety with good old SBLive, I was looking for a sound card "guides" music and not a purely musqiue card at a reasonable price.

After a few searches, I have chosen DMX to the following features:

- Quality converters recognized.
- Support of 24/96
- Support the ASIO driver and clean and compact (as opposed to "bloatware" from Creative Labs)
- Map 5.1
- Rack faade with MIDI, Mic and Headphone knob, practice!

UTILIZATION

The facility does a little rough, with some errors on my part. We must learn to handle a bit drivers, and that he must notament disable before uninstalling, otherwise the blue screen guaranteed.
Also for some time the driver 126 of the official site silent a bad driver, which has been corrected t.

DVD playback in 5.1 is satisfactory, even if I lack of references, and play EAX2 is possible, even if the quality of effects is that of infrieure SBLive.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had prs six months now. Once I got my bearings with it, I'm absolutely not envisage Spare to another:

- Quality sound at the top
- Stability and low latency ASIO driver
- Rack Before very practical

I just baffouill beginners in the installation but I have forgiven and learned the matter o)

The thing I regret if I scratched a little, also the look a little cheap panel CONTRL is the lack of Linux support for now ...
