«  A good basis for the Swing »

Published on 02/04/14 at 12:15
Made in China This large mouth provides a satisfactory overall despite finishing basic settings means.
The key is: solid spruce top quality, straight handle and well hooped correct mechanical violin properly adjusted, varnishes flawless.

It still took me back alignment tailpiece easel inning to re-center the strings. This was easily accomplished because there was a problem finishing (at installation) and not violin!
I took the opportunity for improved instrument tuners and ebony mustache, mechanical Schaller 1:16. Change bridge allowed me to set the intonation, the original was not good.

Cost changes: 75 € and 2h time.

UTILIZATION

Use? ... jazz, swing but also the repertoire of folk ... why not.
The "Selmer-Maccaferri" big mouth while typical jazz manouche style is versatile enough to interpret other registers. This is in this case Nash.

SOUNDS

Strung "Argentina", the guitar is well-typed and expressed properly in Swing register.
Good bass, large projection. The quality / sound / price ratio is very good.
I found it better than Aria MM (once set).

OVERALL OPINION

This "small" gypsy musician offers essentially the kind of great price. However, as discussed above, it deserved a good setting. So far as possible, choose your instrument store.
The improvement I have made there are not indispensable. The original rosewood bridge is basic but adequate, mechanical origins are of the "Gypsy" type, they keep the agreement.
Despite these minor flaws that big mouth sounds good and will delight the little fortunate guitarist. He will be in the hands and ears a worthy instrument style ... I can only applaud that.
