James Trussart SteelDeville

This guitar was made in 2003 by hand in the USA by James Trussart,
a maker of French origin (Lorrain to be exact) very famous.

It has 2 humbucker pickups Seymour Duncan Custom.
Its body is made of perforated rusty, all the mechanical is "spent".
The mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard, 24 frets, is distinguished by its finish!

UTILIZATION

The handle is very nice, access to acute is particularly easy
and 24 frets are very valuable (rare on guitars of this type).

This guitar is a reasonable weight (lighter than a Gibson Lespaul) and fairly well distributed.

The sound settings are accurate, all positions are excellent.

This guitar is a reasonable playability while maintaining a near enough "physical" that plays in favor of sound reproduction;
deeper, more varied and more personal.

SOUNDS

I play mostly rock / progressive metal in a style ranging from Tool to Queen of the Stone Age through the King Crimson.
This guitar allows me to really explore modern sound while maintaining a rich "authentic".
I was looking for a compromise between the current guitars (but ultimately sounding often too "clean" for my taste
and starved of character) and old vintage guitars that sound wonderful but are not always
very versatile, this guitar is the symbiosis.

It is quite likely to agree to directories or even Jazz Blues.
It is a very versatile intrument.

The sounds are both round, warm, harmonically rich, accurate, and typed.
The highs are more defined than on a Gibson Lespaul.
The sustain is excellent.
I use it a few times on a Roland Jazz Chorus 160 void ... a real treat!

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a year and a half every day, I can not get enough.
In addition to its sonic qualities, it is an object that is s'abitue and to which is attached.
The care of the manufacturing commands respect.

The shapes are beautiful, the side "old-worn" adds a lot of character.
It feels to play on an instrument that has already enriched with a long history.

Issue price, it was a difficult choice for me because it still represents a hell of a sum
That said, I had the good fortune (as these guitars here really does not run the streets) to come across a very interesting offer at my local dealer (3000 euros, while it usually revolves more around 3500 to 4000 euros) .

And if we compare with a Gibson Lespaul end of this level is reached much higher prices,
especially since it is a custom guitar!

I do not regret my choice of course not.
The most beautiful object I have in my possession.
