I bought this guitar at sounds great second hand (ony by a week) for £429. I bought it because I need a guitar with a locking trem. I actually went into the shop to buy a jackson, but this was £300 cheaper and I just bought there and then.

This guitar is a one amazing piece of kit , If God owned a guitar it have to be one of these(Just had a mental image then, of some guy with a white beard rocking out on stage dressed like a member of judas priest). Anyway even though it's not the top of the range JS it still, out of ALLof them plays the best. Anyway even though it's not the top of the range JS it still, out of ALLof them plays the best. The tonal range from the guitar is superb, I have changed the pickups to dimazzio rather than the ibanez standard ones, but thats only because I need branding on everything (It makes me feel big). The neck fits my hand perfectly but it may not suit everyone. The trem as most people know isn't a floyd rose, It's a edge pro 2. I works slightly differently and has more sleek design, and the sounds are great. It dive bombs like Tony Blaire's political career.

The only thing I can think thats wrong with it, is that it's got somone elses name on it at the 21st fret. Whos joe satriarni anyway?(joke).

The body is bass wood giving a mixture of mahogany and alder type tones. The wood is well cut and flawlessly finished. Mine is pure white and theres not a blemish. The electrics are all you would ever need.2 humbuckers with a 3 way selector 1 volume and 1 tone pot, which also is a coil tap for those sinlge coil moments. All the contols are solid and well made, pure quality. The neck joint is perfect as are the frets and inlays. The trem holds tune even after heavey abuse. the guitar was already set up when I got and there action is bang on. The very japanese headstock is again briilently finished with no l mistakes like paint run or anything like that.

You need to buy one of these NOW! put it though a mashall stack and it shakes the walls off. The qualiy and value of this guitar is second to none. GO AND GET ONE.

I bought my JS 100BK USED from a local music store, $650.00 Canadian.

Nice finish, Good Shape. Neck was decent enough.

Original set up was awful!! P/U's were pretty bad too. I don't know how they could put this guitar on the sales floor set-up & sounding like it was. Brutal!!

Pretty typical mass quantity construction. I liked the way the TRS bridge was designed. I knew it could be a real machine with some work.

I got it set up with 10's(By a professional luthier). The p/u's replaced with same model Dimarzio p/u's in the JS 1000. Custom colored, of course.
Some saddles were shimmed because they "frapped out" on the upper neck region. Neck was adjusted too.

I mannaged to take my freinds js100 by mistake, and left my s470 at his place for a week - same case! Nice and cheap then!

I looks pretty smart, tremalo is nicer than the one on the s470, thats about it! Sounds are comparable to my s470, ie. you can get most sounds - lacking the single coil pickup of the s470 though, so it loses some flexability.

The kneck wasn't nearly as nice as my s470. the frets were higher and less well finished, the pickup selector switch refused to stay put when playing hard, and the tone knob felt like it was about to come off. And this is a very new guitar - maybe 4 months old or so. I also didn't like the way the headstock is in line with the kneck. On the...…

And this is a very new guitar - maybe 4 months old or so. I also didn't like the way the headstock is in line with the kneck. On the s470 it bends back to wards the player a bit, which looks really cool! It only had one inlay of joe satriani on the 15th fret or something too, nothing else. A fairly ordinary guitar - worht about 600 pounds here... You cuold get some quality gear for that. (guitar gear. obviously).

Tone knob crap. Selector switch knackered. Why go for the ever unreyable gibson-esque switch when the fender style one works time and time again? Tremalo seemed a more soli effort than the s470's.

Dissapointing. Good sound, poor kneck (probably fixable by sorting out the frets), so so construction. You can get some fine guitars for this price. I've read nothing but good things about the ibanez rg series, and the mostly undercut this guitar by a bit. They may not have such a nice shape, but the apparently sound the buisness. Buy one of them! If you have to play like Joe, do it one of ibanez's other guitars.

i bought it second hand, hardly used for about a year, for 300$, in stores i think it costs about 500$

this is my first guitar, i only paid that much for a first guitar cause i'm crazy about joe satriani and it was a really good deal.. now i'm crazy about this guitar.. the switch between humbuckers and single coil magnets is cool, I really like the variety of sound you can get out of this guitar. I'm not a heavy tremolo user, but i still like the floyd rose solution. sure, i takes a little more time to tune in, but it stays tuned.. i went away for 3 months and when i came back it was out of tune for like 2 cents.. and it's fucking gorgeous.. i call her "Inge from sweden" cause she'd...…

the "volume knob" pretty much defines how much effect will be put on the signal that comes out from the guitar.. sometimes i wish, turn it down, it would just be quieter, but instead it loses all the distortion.. of course, it sometimes comes handy. and i don't eve know if it's the same thing with all other guitars because i never dug into it when i played one

well crafted, quality parts, i'm just not sure what's the deal with JS1000 (it's more expensive) but i'm satisfied with the stuff they'd put on her. i had to straighten the neck a little bit once so far and i had to change the magnet switch because it didn't stay put when you switched it and shes's abour 5 years old, so i think it's a good deal

she pretty much stays my main guitar for some time
