Virtual Decadence Virtual Decadence

See Opinion linn134 very well detailed that I thank for its audio examples that made me want to try the beast.

I am looking for a real Ricken for months and budget issue but available on French soil, it was not joy. I saw this "imitation" in the Salon of the music but not have time to try it because attendance at WSL booth (along with trying to SMS, must feel like there is so much noise).

Knowing what Ricken has made all the attempts to copy his models in the past (case ...), and I was pretty happy that finally saw the application (Rick 4003 is again a standard pop-groups rock or neo-vintage-80's electro rock the Klaxons), someone offers us a copy especially for the price. That's the story.

It is imitated, the finish is more than correct in relation to the price and if there was no history of non-conductive sleeve (and the lack of stereo output, in short, the stuff that is useless except for Lemmy and amplification double bass / guitar), or the key unglazed (personal for me that's fine), we really feel like a real one.

I hesitated for finishing instruments generally preferring natural wood with black or sunburst but the "Fireglo" jumped out at me in the store.

UTILIZATION

Channel: When we used the sleeves Jazz Bass type we are baffled by the width. But it is quite comfortable after a few hours.

Ergonomics: Playing in a group of recovery ranging from 60's to 80's, I need a versatile sound. So why would a "Rick" that is so typical (and imitation is not lacking this feature)? simply because I love this sound and I am ready to change a little the sound made in different styles to suit.
I need to play 60's stuff in the palm mute mediator so I turned the protective cover of the micro bridge (note the cover screws also hold the microphone).
For the game to the finger, I would like more support from close to the microphone (before that I played a Variax with a medium long enough to compensate for the lack of a microphone). I know that in general there are no plans to play a Rick's finger (except for fans of Cliff Burton) and it is wrong. I was even surprised by the possibility of slapper (although I never use this technique with my group) having a particular sound.

Note also the equilibrium body-neck, too confusing for those used in Fender and company. It leans a little forward.
Level weight is lighter than my previous low.

I am not 10 but I think I would have put the same note in a real Ricken.

SOUNDS

It is suitable for any style because with volume / tone separated by micro (and a fine enough to resolve amp as my Ashdown), we arrive at all: the mediator or 80's punk / indie full of mediums who send her the finger good old round groove 60's / 70's or imitation of the mediator McCartney (even if we can not accurately reproduce the sound of the strings mesh nets flat round) or other vintage rock-blues. Not to mention a crunch or a little more overdrive that made me want to go back and listen to Lemmy loved his game power chord, to balance the intro of "For Whom the Bells Toll" Burton or take me for the first bassist Tool.

It has a certain versatility because of the settings but it is not in the presence of a chameleon who can go from pseudo-vintage sounds to modern sounds. It adheres to the photographs of Rick's or not.
Say that to be quite honest if I was rich I would complement this by a Stingray bass in the kind or Warwick for stuff more "modern coffee" and I reserve the sound of that AZ by WSL for the mediator.
But again it is because I am too in the cliché "Rick is the powerful bass in the medium cut for the real rock in the mediator." At this price, I still advise to all those who think that Rick is not a low for them to try it. It can do anything other than the McCartney / Lemmy / Chris Squire / Roger Glover that can adapts.

So for someone looking for that particular sound and wants to think outside the box, imitation is pretty good. In this context and given the price, I put 10.

OVERALL OPINION

I bought it yesterday but I played it for hours. The level and ergo I had time to notice me. Level longevity ... we will see later.

I love the quality of imitation look and sound of Rick's all. The violin is not cheap, it's a beautiful instrument. At the same time, 500 euros is not necessarily a price so low cost that an instrument manufactured in Asia.

Quality / price ratio more than excellent.

I must travel in the US not long and if I find a real out there at a reasonable price, I take it (if it is promised I would do a serious comparison test between the two). In the meantime, I have the bass of my dreams between the legs and I will use it live just today.

EDIT: Low bought yesterday, concert today ... a killing this low! Sounds great (on Ashdown amps which cost me 300 euros promo eh!). As not very intelligent analysis, but this level of walking on stage, I have nothing else to say. everything is past: hard rock, old funk, pop 60's, Thurs fingers, mediator, its round, bright, crunchy, slamming into its most power chord to boost the end of the concert ... low stinking rock full nose.
