This is the Vintage Modified Precision TB bass put out by Squier. This is not to be confused with the regular Vintage Modified Precision as I believe the TB stands for Telecaster Bass. You will immediately be able to tell by the looks as the headstock is shaped like a Tele and there is only one fat humbucker in the neck pickup.

It happens all the time you go in for strings and come out with a guitar. Sometimes you even forget to get the strings you came for! This bass was brand new on Christmas Eve. $299 You're darn right I told the Mrs. Santa brought it for me! This bass was brand new on Christmas Eve. $299 You're darn right I told the Mrs. Santa brought it for me! Since the vintage Fender version of these are going up and up in price this is a nice compromise.

The string through body. Something about string throughs just give you an extra bit of sustain. The body contour is nice as I don't believe the vintage ones had this, but it makes the bass a little bit lighter and closer to you.

The 2 saddle bridge is correct for that era, but this is something the could have left out. Each string deserves its own saddle. Currently the bass has nice action and intonates well.

Ash veneer is what gives the bass its looks. The body is a nice sunburst finish and the neck is a smooth semi gloss stain finish.

The hardware is your typical cheaper instrument hardware, but if functions well.

This bass thumps! Throw on some flatwound strings, roll back the tone knob and get that warm, fat bass tone you grew up listening to. Squier is making guitars better than ever these days at an affordable price.

    UTILIZATION

This is a bass that is nice in theory, great in design, but bad in practice. The Fender Telecaster Bass of the 1970s is an iconic vintage instrument. This bass from Squier looks to be a direct copy of it. However, the Squier version is made of c heaper materials, with much poorer quality craftsmanship. The neck was the worst - the neck was bowed severely right out of the box. The fret edges were sharp, even making me wince in pain while sliding my hand up the strings. The finish is not bad, and the tuners and bridge seem decent, but that neck problem is a deal breaker for me.

    SOUNDS

The pickup sounds good, if you like thuddy or growly bass sounds with a minimum of upper frequencies. There is not a lot of clarity to this bass, so it is good for mainly Motown sounds, R and B, blues, or other genres that cut all the high end frequencies out of the bass sound.

    OVERALL OPINION

I'm not a fan of this bass. I think Fender should bump the quality control up a notch and make sure they are making a neck that is actually playable. They could charge $100 more for the same bass with a much better fretjob (and lack of neck bow), and it would be a pretty good instrument. Not recommended.

I've only had this bass for a couple of months but have used it before I purchased it, and I can already tell it's going to be one of my favorite instruments ever! The Duncan Design pickups have a great tone that I have never heard on a bass in this price range. The action was a bit high and required some minor adjustments, but other than that I have found no flaws with this instrument. It has a great sound, a smooth, fast neck, and it looks stunning! I owned a MIM Fender Jazz some years ago, and I can say for a fact that the Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass is a FAR superior instrument. Home run, Squier!

    UTILIZATION

I Get a great sound with this bass, very easy to get to the last frets and get those notes going! I am not a seasoned bass player, I am still learning and this bass helps!

    SOUNDS

Sounds amazing, really couldn’t ask for more out of an affordable bass. It fits perfect when im playing jazz!

    OVERALL OPINION

Overall, This is a solid bass, the one I got was pretty much perfect, except one of the tuning keys is a little loose, but it doesn't cause it to go out of tune. Nice finish, very smooth, fret work is good, all knobs tight & smooth. The chrome parts are plated so after a few years of steady gigging they may start to look funky, but that's just a guess.(I plan to take it to most of my gigs,I always take 2 basses.)The binding on the neck is really nice so I wish the "block inlays" weren't just painted on,but hey for under 3 bills...and from the stage it looks like inlays. The quality control seems to be pretty good from the factory. Its a very well made instrument for the money & would be a solid performer for any gigging musician.

The bridge saddles are brass (type Telecaster), the strings are through. The mcaniques are clones of Fender found on the JB and PB, they seem a little too flashy chrome and I got (vrifier quality over time).

Volume + Tone ffective and easy. The body is a blend of thilleul and alder for the table, the varnish is trsrussi.

    UTILIZATION

Ergonomics gnrale plutt is good, it requires all of the same game "manly", which is quite in the spirit trs roots of this model. The big stick and microphone placement provides a feeling trs rock (I love personal).

    Use no problem!

    SOUNDS

I possde a Musicman Stingray 4 idalie is my bass (main), I was looking for a Fender bass in mind but with a big well, and old school rock (type PB, or 51 Tele bass Gibson EB 3 ). I came across it by chance the. I filled the sound is rich and round, it provides an incredible feeling. I play often at mdiator, microphone placement makes a lot of freedom of movement in the game right hand, which allows a lot of nuances in the attacks.

The microphone is easily saturate the SansAmp Bass driver that I use on my Fender BXR prampli 300 for me is really what I expected from this kind of low. IDAL sound to be closer to the lower Cream, Melody nelson the great Serge, McCartney PERIOD Abbey Road rcemment or more bands like Cold War Kids.

So its a typ trs but necessary if you like. This is my case.

    OVERALL OPINION

I reu there soon, we'll see later how indonsiens older products.

What I like most: THE LOOK (she is beautiful, trs 70's), the sound of this microphone trs good, the price (288 euros in Germany), the rock it provides feelinf trs (combination of microphone, microphone placement and to handle "tough")

What I like least: it is a Squier (I am a snob), the handle is a little light I got a little yellow varnish as a series on classic Fender Mexico would t perfect. The strings of origins at the price of the instrument (I go play Ernie Ball ds tonight).

Report quality great price (it's not trs Ethics as an investment).
I will make the same choice without hsitation, great sound and a beautiful instrument for the price of an effect pedals premium.

    - Made of Indonsie, manufacturing trs treated.
    - 20 frets
    - Bridge bridges two brass
    - A volume knob and one Tone.
    - Handle stocky, affects Rabl.
    - Basswood body and frne trslger.
    - Micro only just below the handle (TEB 101B Humbucking Designed Fender Pickup)
    - The mcaniques have a look a bit "cheap" but effective. However, the string is to replace blocks (4 Thomann).
    - Beautiful 3 Tone Sunburst lacquer plate and '70 tele (70s Tele Bass Style Pickguard).
    - Price: 399 us, 266 in Germany ...

    UTILIZATION

    - Channel trs enjoyable, not too pais (but more than a round of JB).
    - ACCS to acute way, but who cares given the style of music which this bass is intended. ;)

    - Good ergonomics, despite the contours of the body that are not rounded as in other Fender. It is enjoyable to wear trs webbing and weight trs MODR is good for back rpt '.

    SOUNDS

    - This bass is perfect for rock, pop, raggae, but may be appropriate even when all styles (apart from the slap).
    - Sound is trs powerful, very low. We must make some rglages on his amp or tempra prampli for a while, but once that is done, and although it sounds really good trs trs, with its bold ( in the good way, not drooling ...)
    - Use a Sansamp DI BassDriver and through an Ampeg, the sound is perfect me, considering the price.
    - Attention, despite the fact that there crit Precision Bass on the head, has not sound like a P-Bass, another sound. The name Telecaster Bass t would make more sense ...

    OVERALL OPINION

    - Lends by my luthier (thank you to him!), Essay rpt 3 o'clock in a directory with pop rock.
    - The trs good, excellent quality and experienced peru, all under the asking price.
    - It will no doubt be a secondary low IDAL, or bass perfect for beginners ...
    - Vintage Look 70s russi.
    - To buy the closed eyes for a lover of vintage bass ...
    - I put 9 in the light of the report qualitprix bluffing! (She rises to the level of the quality of her sisters in Mexico, see Japanese, no worries, for half or one third of the price !!!!)

A round handle, not so far from that of my JB (admittedly a little thicker, but not the handle of lumberjack I had read in the reviews)
the action is set properly upon receipt, I found it really enjoyable to play.

a fairly consistent output level which easily saturate a preamp.

used the JB, I had to put my thumb mark on the neck pickup. Not possible here, so we'll resume my marks.
the position of attack (above the micro or near the bridge) can radically change the sound.

    SOUNDS

Many sub (nothing to do with JB), but the sound remains clear and usable.
Nothing but empty, feel the bass in the body (the bass and bassist), probably the strings involved in this through-good distribution.

with a high EQ, you can attack other styles, but rather is made to rock, reggae, dub maybe, jazz.

I was much disappointed with the Duncan Designed pickups JB vintage modified, as I find the Fender Designed the latter is more serious.

while having a particular sound, it remains flexible enough not to be ridiculous in other areas as the "old rock" and can even give a more modern than I expected.

each style, but being a fan of its liabilities and heavy, I love this bass!

evening edition: with better strings, the probe is rounder, warmer, highs are more pleasant, it was worth it.

    OVERALL OPINION

This precision TB is another very good deal in the range of Squier Vintage Modified!
precision as the standard meant nothing to me (Agathis body and micro average), as the JB (+ good microphones) and the TB are very good for their price!

little more: it is to taste, but I love her look
Same as studiocangé: a round yellow would have been more cosmetic ... does it come with time?

APRS, I can not do anything for you.

    UTILIZATION

The handle, though wider than a J-Bass (but less than the Standard Precision ...) is enjoyable and beautiful (a change of rosewood fingerboard).

    It is well balance.

Then the weight, he's great, neither too much nor too little! (That's what I prfre!)

The (Xcellent) is obtained quickly, but his attention, not a P-Bass sound.

I would say that for parcontre dcrocher plastic that protects the pickguard is hard to remove. (I think he put the plastoche before the pots and screws!)

In this regard, it lacks a screw pickguard (I count 15 on mine and 16 on the official photo ...) compared to the photos, let us be clear, this is NOT an oversight on the cha not because I saw the photo studio cang on the forum (and other pictures too) and I counted 15 too ... weird.

It's just because the pickguard embtant is spaced from the body there (the small point of potentiomtres left when looking at the photo)

Nothing serious (I put my mditor 1 mm, largest, has not come) but for plastics and the photo not PERFECTLY contract, I take a mini point.

    SOUNDS

Then the sound, it is fabulous! Not a parasite (the thank you Humbucker fix with 4 screws as shown in pictures at least)!

I play a lot of Beatles (sr others as well) and it is fab (oven) uleux!

I play on a Hartke A70 (I would change to a hybrid lamp / transistor or at least a more powerful style Ashdown) and I'll buy a Overdrive (I do not have any effect) in the near future ...

You will get no sound srement Jazz or P-Bass but the sound is trs round (do not try to have the lens, you will not find ... or not trs )

Adept slap (I confirm other opinion) go your way, too high for the strings and the sound is not slamming ...

I tape, I'm an old school rock player and the slap, I have my Jazz Bass. (Squier)

    OVERALL OPINION

I Reue Thursday aprem but without tuner (which I hand in the family ... but, I told myself my life ...) I notice n'cris qu'aujourd ' Today ... (I bought a t PCQ oversights, not c the 1st time ...)

I love his lgret and its precise form (the most beautiful for me ... I am conservative trs) and more rustic (the only rounding is to ask the forearm).

I tried qqes low (P-Mex Bass caught my attention ... but it will require finance for my annif) but I wanted to have the most DMLE "luxury" home Squier. (And also make me an opinion on Thomann)

The report quality price ... if this bass had sold 1000 t, I would 9 / 10 but here it is 11/10!

I would do without this choice problem, eyes closed. (That's what I did by buying it in VPC ...)

But I remain the ide ide a precision Mex (Std or Classic series, or Highway One) ... ct of

If you like the style, go for it!

    UTILIZATION

Channel trs enjoyable and well finished. This is typical of a Precision Bass neck, broad and relatively pais at nut along the length.
For a Squier, shrinking particulirement is neat and not be ashamed to face Ibanez.
Little regret, the Saddle of the handle is white and trs is "all-new-out-d'usine" which DNote a little low for a philosophy with vintage. P'tte that I pay for the knowledge of the UV to yellow ...
In addition, he would type it is almost over for a really good vintage mouth!

The plane of the handle is also very Russian. I have not yet DTECT position o the strings would Manir abnormal curling. It remains to see how it all ages…

The ergonomics is rather spartan gnrale but I got enough (does not cause pain!). The big highlight is the weight-General for the lower body because of Agathis (a kind of lime, right?). This is the most low lgre I've ever had in my hands, knowing that I jou at least thirty Different.

Access in acute non CRITERIA not constitute a choice for this type of instrument in mind basic.

    SOUNDS

The Fender humbucker has a volume gnral and a passive Tone. There is no microphone. Good for low CHRE not. The big surprise is the incredible level out the double-coil.
Prampli a lamp, a rgal! The sound saturates rather quickly. on the other hand, beware of pramplis transistors, some bad digrent trs crtent such levels and the signal constantly. Try to plug in between the bass sound becomes active if the dsagrable (saturation transistor).

Prcdemment signal as in other reviews, the sound is not typical of a Precision. Overall, there are fewer mediums and even more serious is that as the TB sends! We must say that it compensates a little small lack of sustain and low spread of rsonance ropes. This is certainly the body of trslger in Agathis. But hey, for the price ...

For crystalline sound, go your way ... Here we are in the heavy, see trs trs heavy. In pramp, you pretty much have to remove the serious and mount mdiums, otherwise there may no longer agree that the ds drums and guitar playing. Fortunately, The definition is good in extreme serious that remains the domain of prdilection this low. A totally play with one or more speakers 15 "to fully take advantage of potential" serious "of TB.

Tone never used the hand to try. The sound becomes muffled and trs trs is not enough to round bass lines very serious and distinct.

Personally, I mount rope nets in a flat for her even more basic. Mdiator to play well, ca provides clean and straightforward attack, and naturally increases mdiums ca. Perfect with guitars in various kinds of rock. the sound does not fit into the sound spectrum of the guitars, it's still well below with the bass drum, as well as audible. The sound of a "dog"!

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 2 months.

What I like most is the concept gnral: low traditional, simple, well finished, not really CHRE with his personal property. In short, everything the opposite of an active bass, Christian, and with a complicated synth sound ...
What I regret most is undoubtedly the timber body, satan Agathis. Okay, that trslger, but not well rsons ca. This wood is too soft! With a body accajou in frne or alder, this bass does have a killing.

The report qualitprix is excellent, especially if you buy it in Germany. This bass has, after all, no big gap as is often the case with cheap instruments.

Ok, it's really not for the low pass "through the mix." on the other hand, y 'is not much on the market that gnre such a roar!

With exprience, I hasten to add the micro Precision Standard broaden his sonic palette ...
