Overall Opinion
I use the EWI1000 EWV2000 and 5 years. It is a fascinating instrument, a marvel of electronics. I love the thrill and the instrument sounds. 8 octaves (the roll of the photo), portamento and pitch bend, vibrato by the mouth etc ... The main diffrence with the other models is the possibility to play chords with 4 MIDI sounds with the instrument and the lack of reed which allows anyone (or almost) to play of EWI. There is no cls The models like Yamaha or Lyricon, they are just sensitive keys. The contact is made by the body mass is therefore to convey the changes notes.
This instrument is sensitive trs and unfortunately sensitive to changes in temprature (scne spots on such formidable enemies are). Michael Brecker pays the price in the Steps Ahead Live in Tokyo ("Sumo") on DVD. For me, the great matre of the instrument is Michael Brecker, first because he is the instrument with which advelopp Neil Steiner and AKAI, and although its great my sr sorts of technical and musical instrument. He did a great job on the instrument sound.
The models I tried Yamaha but I have not felt the same sensations with the EWI. It is hard to find second-hand, unfortunately, and especially in good condition (mine were false contacts). It is difficult trs matriser to beginners and ncessite a standard work of precision that the contacts which are the mtalliques cls frlement are sensitive to the slightest! A simple C major scale is a vritable ordeal. Most saxophone players who play the EWI the transpose (in B flat as a tnor or soprano).
Today, it is difficult to buy an EWI nine (I know, only one store ct de la Villette still sells at a price of 650 for the controller and the gn 1440 sound operator). The analog is the synthse EWV2000 which gives a lot of heat. It is now only sold MODEL saxophone (EWI3000). For the trumpet MODEL (EVI), you have to buy the MODEL EWI and expdier Neil Steiner (the inventor) who intends to convert it to ITS. 2 sound modules to choose from: traditional sounds of analog instruments wind. The analog MODEL me parat be the best choice. For Repair Tool, it is best to contact Neil Steiner rpar you without problem.

J'utilise l'EWI1000 et l'EWV2000 depuis 5 ans. C'est un instrument fascinant, un prodige d'électronique. J'adore les sensations que procure l'instrument et les sons. 8 octaves (les rouleaux de la photo), pitch bend et portamento, vibrato par l'embouchure etc ... La principale différence avec les autres modèles est la possibilité de faire jouer des accords de 4 sons en MIDI avec l'instrument et l'absence d'anche ce qui permet à n'importe qui (ou presque) de jouer de l'EWI. Il n'y a pas de clés comme sur les modèles Yamaha ou le Lyricon, ce sont juste des touches sensitives. Le contact se fait par le corps qui fait donc masse pour transmettre les changements de notes.
Cet instrument est très fragile malheureusement et sensible aux variations de température (les spots sur scène par exemple sont de redoutables ennemis). Michael Brecker en fait les frais dans le Live à Tokyo de Steps Ahead ("Sumo") en DVD. Pour moi, le grand maître de l'instrument est Michael Brecker, tout d'abord parce que c'est lui qui a développé l'instrument avec Neil Steiner et AKAI, et bien sûr par sa grande maîtrise technique et musicale de l'instrument. Il a fait un gros travail sonore sur l'instrument.
J'ai essayé les modèles Yamaha mais je n'ai pas ressenti les mêmes sensations qu'avec l'EWI. Il est difficile d'en trouver d'occasion malheureusement et surtout en bon état (le mien avait des faux contacts). Il est très difficile à maîtriser au début et nécessite un énorme travail de précision du fait que les contacts métalliques qui constituent les clés soient sensibles au moindre frôlement !!! Une simple gamme de do majeur devient un véritable calvaire. La plupart des saxophonistes qui jouent de l'EWI le transposent (en sib comme un ténor ou un soprano).
Aujourd'hui, il est difficile d'acheter un EWI neuf (à ma connaissance, un seul magasin du côté de la Villette le vend encore au prix de 650 € pour le controlleur et de 1440 € pour le générateur de sons). La synthèse est analogique sur l'EWV2000 ce qui lui donne beaucoup de chaleur. Il est maintenant vendu uniquement en modèle saxophone (EWI3000). Pour obtenir le modèle trompette (EVI), il faut acheter le modèle EWI et l'expédier à Neil Steiner (l'inventeur) qui se propose de le convertir en EVI. 2 modules de sons au choix : analogique ou sons traditionnels d'instruments à vent. Le modèle analogique me paraît être le meilleur choix. Pour toute réparation, il vaut mieux contacter Neil Steiner qui vous le réparera sans problème.
