UTILIZATION

The setting is very fast (three knobs in all) and clear enough. Personally I use it very binary, a pot-bottom, the other to zero! =)
I use it as a gate and not to cut the sound completely. For very precise rhythm parts (I play the metal) is a real treat.

SOUND QUALITY

I've never been disappointed with it. There are just some difficulties to control the feedback is activated when this can be an advantage or a disadvantage.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for two years, both on stage and in repeated and never let me down. The bad thing is, as usual with BOSS: the price (hence the 9)! But the game is worth it, I would definitely buy one again!

UTILIZATION

The principle of the effects loop is rather complicated at first but got used to it quickly.

There are two ways to plug this pedal: Either as explained in the manual, either by putting the end of the loop (my favorite method)

As for the settings is very simple.

on the other hand I noticed a very slight loss of sustain when you put everything in depth but you really have an ear to the amp!

The manual is very clear but I do not like the assembly is explained, but hey to each his own!

SOUND QUALITY

The Boss NS-2 is very effective indeed, with my pedals (Boss DS-1 Zoom multi-effects ...) there is a feedback monster! And when j'enclenche the NS-2, nothing!
It removes even the feedback produced by the effects of my amp!
My guitar is a Fender Jaguar with two microphones double, I have pedals that produce bcp of breath (such as DS-1) and an amp (Marshall MG45DFX which will soon be replaced by an H & K Edition Blue 60R) also made qiu of breath and as I said above, the NS-2 takes all.

It has been almost a month since I have it.

The + => Reduction excellent, intuitive adjustment, the ability to power other pedals (not just the boss!)
The - => History of the loop, a little tricky at first but you can plug it and forget the loop and it works very well (even better with my setup)

I had already tested a noise gate (zoom I think), he was doing his job, but a slight hiss persisted while with this pedal: NOTHING!

The price / quality ratio is excellent, the price is not too high (or € 83 with Musicstore Thomann) and the result is excellent.

The Boss NS-2 is a digital noise suppressor pedal designed to cut white/unwanted noise from you guitar signal. This particular noise suppressor has your standard Input and Output as well as an effects loop Send and Return. All of which are 1/4" jacks.

UTILIZATION

The Boss NS-2 is very easy to set up, and has a couple of ways to do so. The most effective ways being Guitar Signal into Input then Output into Amp, then have the noisy pedals (I use mine just for the dirt section.) in the effects loop of the NS-2. The other way is a little trickier. Guitar Signal to the INPUT of the NS-2, then the SEND of the NS-2 to the amp input. Then the effects loop SEND of the AMP into the effects RETURN of the NS-2, then the OUTPUT of the NS-2 into the effects RETURN of the AMP. This is called the 'X Configuration' or 'X pattern' and is effective for eliminating noise from the front of the amp and the amp itself. It works best for high gain amplifiers that get noisy when the gain is increased. Other than that the Threshold and Decay are set to taste. It's a fairly easy pedal to use. You just find a setting and leave it.

SOUND QUALITY

I've used the NS-2 for guitar and bass. It works well for both. It doesn't really change my sound too noticeably in a live setting, but there is a subtle change to your tone. The gate can cut your sound if you set the threshold too high, but it can be set to not effect your sustain if you set it up right.

OVERALL OPINION

For the money it's definitely a worthy pedal for any board. It does it's job and is very affordable. I've tried a few others and haven't found a real need to switch from my NS-2. I sold my original NS-2 and recently came back to it. It's a great pedal. Built like a tank, like most Boss pedals.

This is a straight noise suppressor with really only one purpose: and that's to suppress noise ! I believe it is digital. It cannot be edited via computer. This is a floor pedal, so it is not rackable. This unit has an input and an output for going from the guitar to the rest of your guitar pedal chain then to the amp. However, it also has additional send and return inputs and outputs, which essentially turns your pedal rig into an effects loop. This unit is definitely most effective when utilized in this way.

UTILIZATION

The general configuration/setup is simple. Sound/effects editing is easy. It's got two modes: one to mute your signal and the other is the actual noise reduction mode. It's got two knobs, threshold and decay. You need to tweak these two knobs to get the maximum, most effective noise reduction possible without compromising your tone and sustain, which the unit can do if you set the threshold too high. I bought this used, so I don't have a manual. However, I don't think it's necessary.

As said, this effect is for one thing and one thing alone. It is for noise suppression. It does what it does very well. It reduces hum, feedback, and other noise very well. I own a DOD Yngwie Malmsteen preamp overdrive pedal, and Yngwie himself will tell you that that little unit is noisy. When you put this pedal before the DOD in your chain, utilize the effects loop function. OVERALL OPINION

I've been using this unit since the beginning of this year. I love it's noise suppressing capabilities. It's not the most glamorous pedal, but I feel it is an essential component of one's pedal chain. I don't know what I did before I bought this unit. The only thing I don't like about it is that it kills your sustain if you set your threshold too high. This is unfortunate, because the higher you can set your threshold, the better the noise suppressor effect. If you can be successful at finding a happy medium between these two factors, you will also be happy with the unit. I checked out rocktron's version, but nobody swears by their noise suppressors as much as people do with their Boss noise suppressor. The pedal is kind of pricey in my opinion, but since it is so essential to your rig, it is money well spent. I have no regrets about buying this unit. I needed it, plain and simple, and it does its job well.
