Cakewalk Updates Sonar To v8.3

Cakewalk has released version 8.3 updates for SONAR 8 Producer and SONAR 8 Studio.
Issues Resolved in SONAR 8.3
- External Inserts:
o The External Insert ping test now returns consistent delay offset values.
o Audio now stays in sync with multiple External Inserts in a project.
o Scrub now works with External Inserts in a project.
o Deleting and External Insert during playback no longer causes a crash.
o Using an External Insert on a track containing Groove Clips no longer causes a crash.
o Improved stability when changing driver type from ASIO to WDM with a project opened that includes External Inserts.
o Automating External Insert parameters no longer causes crashes.
o External Insert now displays delay offset value when used in a bus.
- Instrument Tracks:
o Dragging & dropping clips to/from Instrument Tracks sometimes resulted in clips disappearing.
o Improved stability when archiving, deleting, inserting (as well as undo) instrument tracks or tracks routed to sidechain inputs.
- General:
o It is now possible to use the Insert Send Assistant to create pre-fader sends without patching an effect.
o V-Vocal Mute/Solo controls sometimes affected the wrong track in projects containing instrument tracks.
o Improved support for opening Type 1 MIDI files in SONAR x64.
New Features in SONAR 8.3
- Live input plug-in delay compensation (PDC) override:
o Delay compensation can now be disabled on live tracks during playback/recording to reduce latency.
- Multiprocessor load balancing:
o SONAR's audio engine has enhanced multicore performance and load balancing.
o The CPU meter in the status bar now shows all average with peak for all available processors.
- Aim Assist enhancements:
o When Snap to Grid is enabled, the Aim Assist line follows the current Snap to Grid setting.
o New behavior when selecting and moving a clip with the Select Tool:
+ Click the front/left portion of a clip - The Aim Assist line snaps to the the start of the clip boundary and travels with the clip as it is dragged.
+ Click the rear/right portion of a clip - The Aim Assist line snaps to the end of the clip boundary and snap operates on the clip's end.
- Snap to Grid enhancements:
o You can save and recall Snap to Grid presets and specify snap landmarks should be obtained from all visible tracks or only the current track.
- Dynamic Arm enhancement:
o 'Only For Inputs In Project' option instructs SONAR to only open hardware input ports that are currently active in the project, reducing CPU overhead when the 'Allow Arm Changes During Playback/Record' is enabled in the Transport | Record Options dialog.
- External insert enhancements:
o Improved sync when mixing external hardware with other plug-ins that require delay compensation.
o Improved sync while looping.
o Multiple external inserts can be used in the same project.
o Improved stability on computers with multiple cores/processors.
- Global effects bypass:
o SONAR now allows you to globally bypass all audio effects in a project, only tracks, only buses or only clip effects.
- Split clip group enhancement:
o SONAR can automatically create a new clip group when splitting clips in an existing clip group.
- New Split clip options:
o Left portion (default) - Only the left portion is selected after a split.
o Right portion - Only the right portion is selected after a split.
o Both portions - Both left and right portions are selected after a split.
o None - Neither portion is selected after a split.
- Notification when track/bus outputs are assigned to silent output:
o If there is a discrepancy between the port assignments that were saved and the ports that are used in the current configuration, the ports are set to "None" and the Silent Busses Detected dialog warns the user.
- Guitar Rig 3.2.1 LE enhancements (SONAR 8.3 Producer Edition only):
o Vista 64-bit support.
o New Bass Pro amp.
o New Stomp Compressor.
o MIDI input filter in the Preferences tab.
o Improved performance.
- TruePianos Vista x64 support (SONAR 8.3 Producer only):
o The TruePianos Amber Module VSTi plug-in now supports Vista 64-bit.
- Classic sounds for Dimension Pro and Dimension LE:
o Original samples from the legendary Roland SH-101, TB-303, and VP-330.
o Classic sounds of the Arp Odyssey, Minimoog and Sequential Circuit's Prophet 5.
- Classic drum kits for Session Drummer 2:
o Original samples from the class Roland TR-707, TR-727, TR-808, and TR-909.

[NAMM] Cakewalk Sonar Updated to v8.3

Cakewalk has announced a free update for SONAR 8 Producer and SONAR 8 Studio.
The 8.3 Update will be available February, 2009, as free a download for registered SONAR 8 customers.
The SONAR 8.3 Update adds new enhancements, engine optimizations, classic Roland sample content for Dimension Pro and Dimension LE, and drum kits for Session Drummer 2. In addition, the update addresses various performance issues reported by customers after SONAR 8's initial release.
The SONAR 8.3 update will include:
- Snap Presets: Flexibility in snap settings, allowing for audio and MIDI edits to specific musical or absolute times (to snap points, or by time intervals), clip events, transients, and markers.
- External Inserts: Allow you to insert outboard gear into your projects, while providing sample accurate delay compensation. New optimizations for SONAR 8.3: improved sync when mixing external hardware with other plug-ins that require delay compensation; multiple external inserts can be used in the same project; improved stability on multiprocessing machines; and improved sync while looping.
- Optimized multiprocessor load balancing: Handling of multithread processing for improved CPU utilization and better overall performance.
- Aim Assist enhancements: SONAR's visual guide for editing can now follow snap settings or automatically align to clip starts and ends.
- Vintage synth sounds for Dimension Pro: Original samples of the legendary Roland SH-101, TB-303, and VP-330, along with classic sounds of the Arp Odyssey, Moog Minimoog and Sequential Circuits Prophet5.
- Classic Drum kits for Session Drummer 2: Genre-defining original samples of the classic Roland TR-707, TR-727, TR-808, and TR-909 drum synthesizers, along with kits from Sequential Circuits Drumtraks and Linn Electronics LinnDrum.
- Guitar Rig 3 LE and TruePianos Amber Module updates: Offering support for Windows Vista x64.

Cakewalk Sonar 8 Trial Version

Cakewalk has announced availability of a free demonstration version of SONAR 8.
The trial version of Sonar 8 in both 32- and 64-bit versions is available in five localized languages.
Users can test-drive the Sonar 8 demo for up to 15 days, create and save their projects, then register on-line to earn another free 15 trial days. Once the trial version expires, users will be able to save their projects and purchase the full version of Sonar 8 if they choose, at which time they will be able to re-access their projects.

Cakewalk Updates Sonar to v8.0.2.

Cakewalk has updated SONAR Producer and Studio Editions to v8.0.2.
Issues resolved in SONAR 8.0.2:
- On some system configurations, project playback would stall/pause intermittently.
- Multi-selected clips could not be cropped together at certain zoom levels.
- Intermittent errors occurred while playing projects containing V-Vocal clips.
- The Track Inspector MIDI fader was not always drawing correctly.

Cakewalk has updated SONAR 8 (Producer and Studio Editions) to v8.0.1 and Beatscape to v1.0.1.
Issues Resolved in SONAR v8.0.1
Main Application:
* Arming single parameters for automation was not functioning properly.
* The Insert Controllers command no longer causes freezes and instability in SONAR.
* The Insert Send Assistant is now available from the Console View and Track Inspector.
* Inserting and assigning sends is more stable and responsive.
* The Plug-in Manager no longer crashes on exporting a preset from the ACT MIDI Controller.
* SONAR no longer crashes when opening an OMF containing unspecified proprietary information.
* Editing track and bus names no longer causes CPU spikes.
* The Split Note to Track CAL script no longer crashes SONAR.
* Inaccuracies have been corrected regarding nudging, snapping, sliding and inserting time by Frames.
* QuickTime H.264 export sometimes resulted in no file being created.
* In rare cases, SONAR would crash when recording a stream of MIDI data (more likely on multicore/multiprocessor systems).
Audio Engine:
* SONAR no longer crashes when changing the driver type (WDM, ASIO) while the app is running.
* Improved control surface response to REW/FF operations.
* SONAR no longer deletes a Surround Main when changing the driver type while the app is running.
* SMPTE Sync is now stable at low latencies.
Instrument Tracks:
* New tracks are no longer created as clips are moved within an instrument track containing a multi-out synth.
* SONAR no longer crashes when accessing Track Properties | Instruments from an Instrument Track.
* Potential instabilities when right-clicking the Patch or Bank field of an Instrument Track have been resolved.
Console View:
* Meter options were not retaining their settings.
* Values sometimes did not display properly in narrow strips.
Track View:
* Several issues regarding drag-and-drop and cut/copy/paste have been resolved.
* Track controls such as gain, pan, and send level sometimes had no impact on the audio signal path.
* Nudging a clip up/down did not always move it to the adjacent track.
* Potential instability with the video track has been resolved.
* Importing multiple audio clips now properly places them in multiple tracks, instead of stacked together in a single track.
* Editing multiple selected clips within folder tracks now edits all selected clips as expected.
* Scrolling is now more responsive in large projects.
* Auto cross-fade settings were not being saved with project files.
Cakewalk Plug-ins:
* The TL-64 Tube Leveler incorrectly exposed the Drive parameter as Input Gain to ACT controllers and automation.
* 64-bit versions of TS-64 Transient Shaper, TL-64 Tube Leveler, LP-64 Multiband and LP-64 EQ sometimes caused the left and right outputs to be out of phase with one another.
* LP-64 EQ sometimes did not retain its settings when saved in a project file.
Third Party Issues:
* FXPansion BFD 2 groove preview now works correctly with SONAR.
Known Issues:
* Some users have reported a pause during playback with certain audio devices and configurations. As of this writing this issue is still undergoing investigation and any correction to SONAR that could potentially alleviate this behavior will be addressed as soon as possible.
Beatscape v1.0.1
New features and improvements:
* Various Performance & Stability Issues improvements.
* Improved Font Rendering.
* Pad Progress bar now is in sync with loop playback.
* Master Volume and Pan now affect all outputs.
* Keyboard now shows feedback from pads and MIDI.

* Pad progress bar wasn't displaying in Autoplay mode.
* Triggering pads in Autoplay mode would stack the sample.
* .loop files were being stored in the wrong directory.
* Pads weren't playing in certain modes.
* Some pad settings were clearing when loops were replaced.
Known Issues:
* The browser does not automatically refresh, please use the new browser's refresh button.
* Beatscape does not follow host tempo automation.
* The uninstaller does not remove the 'filecache.lst' file Beatscape uses this file to keep track of its library).
* In some cases REX files may have a silent slice in the beginning or the end of the loop. Beatscape will assign a step to these slices as well.

Cakewalk announces SONAR 8 Producer, and SONAR 8 Studio. Registered customers can pre-order upgrades to SONAR 8 now. SONAR 8 will begin shipping October 2nd 2008.
