Soon, we all agree that this is an amp top with an overflow of power including its clear. I nearly changed the amp because of it, but hard to find a gear as complete in this range and with a peer. So I go to a specialist electronic sound (in my case MTA Montpellier). The technician I have added a small master volume very quiet on the back of the amp, and end of the electronic circuit for me not spoil the sound. My amp is literally transformed! I can push the volume knobs and heat through my lamps without bursting the eardrums of the neighborhood. At the same time, I have a really powerful amp scene! The top. In short, the sound really revealed (and printing to reduce the breath of the canal spoken of some saturated). If you love your amp, you will totally love it after this mod!
Too weird that Fender did not put it home ... That changes everything! A booster for solos and hop need anything!

The clean sound is great, as is often the Fender, but not as bright as other models, which suits me because I like too much too bright and too clean that pierce the eardrums. There is a clear, very hot and round that I love.
The channel saturated frankly surprised me. I was used to distos really ugly on Fender amps, and no such glaring round just, well, is not at all, it sounds to the blues as well as for the right rock though rare, and still I never exceed 7 / 10 for the saturation level. Frankly I love the distortion that I find good music. It sounds great with a Start and a Les Paul, it sends really heavy.

40Watts tube at the beginning I thought about not even, I was aiming rather 5W tube. But having found nothing satisfactory one day a salesman asked me to try this model.
Ben frankly I regret it. I play in my studio, which is true, is not tiny, and I have no worries neighbors. But I think it is exploitable at reduced volume. For clear sound, it's true that I never exceed the 1 or 2 out of 10, but I still sound full.
I'm recording, and repeat, and it is perfect. With a good microphone in front of the amp, it sounds terrible offers on models.
Now it is true that in a small apartment with neighbors next door, well, it should perhaps not.
When I takes me on stage, I want to do a little spit and it is a treat. plus not too bulky and not too difficult to transport.

When the effects, they are very satisfactory. The reverb is like all the amps, we understand why it is up to 10, since we can not exceed 1 or 2, otherwise it looks like nothing, but it does not sound too bad, it ' is honest.
When the chorus and delay, well they are very good and very easy to use.
It comes with a 4-button footswitch, the blow a bit much, but hey at least it holds up on stage.

    OVERALL OPINION

In short, for this budget and this Used Electronic, I am 100% satisfied with my purchase. The only thing I miss (but I have not seen on many amplifiers), it is a switch "boost" for solos on stage, which simply increase the volume. But we can not have it all.
This is my first tube amp, and now I understand those who say that once you have tasted it can do without it.

I've had a week and I'm amazed. Fender sound I wanted without putting one's fortune and well earned. I hesitated between the Hot Rod Deluxe and it. Accustomed to a modeling amp with effects and using much the chorus, I did not want to buy more than one pedal and have a thread over in the legs. The chorus included on the Deluxe VM strongly interested me.
I do not regret that choice.
This amp is really great for its price.

I tried to connect a cab with Celestion Greenback (closed cab), I find him very good, more bass, deep.

    OVERALL OPINION

Bought used a week ago, I like it a lot
I find it much more interesting than a Hot Rod Deluxe (my previous amp) sound more "vintage", acceptable weight, more defined channel drive, as well as easier management of noise (it sounds good even at low volume - especially the clean channel)
The effects are of good quality: simple but effective. This is obviously not a multi-effects but I am more than enough. The pedal is very convenient to carry it avoids having pedals and cables everywhere ...
A defect, however: there is surprisingly a lot of blows on the drive channel. It's a shame, it spoils the picture a bit, even if it is little agreement when playing in groups.
In the end, I do not regret my choice.

For the money this isn't a bad offering by Fender. This is sort of a step above the solid state amp modeling amps that are a little lower on the price point. These amps actually sound pretty decent. Not too many features but enough to get you some solid tones and effects all in one easy amp package.

This is the exact same amp as the black standard version but just in a cooler more cosmetic detailed custom color. This is the blonde tolex covering with a brown grill front baffle. This amp has all the same features and tone as there black but just a up graded look.

    UTILIZATION

    SOUNDS

I have to listen to this amp with a good Fender Stratocaster or superstrat for the tones I'm looking for. A nice Gibson Les Paul doesn't hurt either but right now I'm into the strats. The clean are exactly what you have come to know from Fender. They are sparkly and chimy with a tone of character. The distortion channel is a solid grindy Fender tube saturation that you would expect from Fender. Not a Marshall grind bit definitely a usable tone. If you want something in a high gain format than I would looking to the Peavey solid state stuff which has great sounding distortion and effects build in for the same range of prices.

    OVERALL OPINION

I am a big fan of this amp. It has a solid tone and a good double channel experience with liquid effects built in. At new these units come in at around $800, which isn't bad for a well built all in one Fender amp. This would be a great gigging cover band amp for somebody.

I would recommend this amp to anyone who is playing a lot of covers or just jamming at home and don't want to mess of multiple effects and pedals. This would be for someone who wants to go simple and keep it clean.

    SOUNDS

I am not a fan of what fender does with solid-state amplifiers. I've never been a fan of the solid-state tone per se but Fender can not do justice without tubes involved in their amplifiers. They excel at clean to create an amplifier's and not this digitally processed town. They have a knack for building high quality guitars and amps but not digitally processed computer-generated amplifiers. This amp is dressed with the DSP platform which is a chip install into the newer solid-state amplifiers which gives it more to be like sound but never really achieving the feel or the punch is a tube tone amplifier. This is a 40 W amplifier that can get very loud due to the solid-state tone and power section. You also get a decent effects loop and send in return but really needs that when you have all of the effects built right into the amplifier. The course sounds pretty good and the delay sound pretty good but the distortion in overdrive sound absolutely terrible

    OVERALL OPINION

Like I said before these amps are for beginners and learning guitar players. They are pretty highly priced though for what they can do. At new you can find these guitar amplifiers for right around the price of $800. That is pretty expensive for someone is learning how to play the guitar. I would only recommend this guitar amplifier to someone just learning not a professional. Haven't spent any time with a real tube valve amplifier. This is a high price for someone learning so I would suggest getting one if you really like to sound off of the used amplifier market.

Definitely a cool sounding amp that combines Fender clean with a unique overdrive channel and some nifty built in effects as well.

    UTILIZATION

Dialing in this amp was very simple to do. I first tried it without reading through the manual or knowing how the controls interacted with one another and I was still able to get a very good variety of sounds with both channels. The effects too were very intuitive and easy to dial in as well, which I felt was great for a modelling type amp.

The clean channel has a very typical Fender layout of volume, treble and bass controls. The tones are very classic Fender blackface clean to my ears. Sure it isn't the real deal vintage head, but for an $800 recreation, the Fender type clean that I expected was there and enjoyable.

The dirty channel was my favourite part of the amp by all means. Historically, blackface Fender amps have been one thing... loud and CLEAN for the most part. However, with their Vintage Modified series Fender has added a great drive channel into the equation. It's very thick and has a nice raunch to it that reminds me of a classic tweed Fender or a Marshall with a good fuzz pedal. It's not a modern metal distortion, but rather more of a vintage toned quasi-fuzz drive, perfect for '60s-70s hard rock tones.

I'm not normally an effects guy but the onboard chorus, delay and reverb were great. The chorus goes from classic shimmer to more of an extreme sound reminiscent of a Leslie speaker. The delay has a nice analog quality that still managed to sound clear and cut through even on the dirty channel. The reverb was very nice too. It had that classic dripping Fender vibe, perfect for surf or ambient textures, or perhaps country licks when mixed with the delay.

    SOUNDS

I've tried this amp with various Fender guitars (Strats, Teles, Jazzmasters, etc) as well as some Gibson Les Pauls (Standard and Traditional Plus) and a Gibson ES335.

The amp's overall vibe to me is classic, but with a bit of extra horsepower hidden inside, like a modified vintage amp. The clean channel is like a blackface Fender amp, but it has a little bit more thickness and punch that makes your guitar sound a little bit bolder and more upfront. Using single coil pickups provided a really great overwound sort of '60s-'70s style clean tone. Think a late '60s Strat or Tele with those slightly hotter pickups of the time into a cranked tube amp and you'll get the idea. Working in conjunction with the onboard effects gives you a bunch of cool textures to add to the tonal palate as well. The dirty channel as stated is like a fuzzed out tube amp turned to the hills. Though it sounds great at all volume levels, this channel really felt and sounded like (in the words of Greg Koch) "an old tweed Deluxe that sounds like it's about to explode." Very thick, very viscous and very cool. Turning up the gain and reverb and turning down the midrange a bit brought it a little more into a classic hard rock territory ala Van Halen, which I thought was really interesting. The onboard Celestion speaker is well matched to this amp, providing a good clear tone that suits both clean and overdrive sounds quite well.

    OVERALL OPINION

All in all I feel the Deluxe VM is a winner as far as a versatile, reasonably priced, medium wattage tube amplifier combo. It has the classic Fender clean, a killer classic drive sound, and some really cool effects that, though they're not the same as analog pedals, sound cool and are very convenient to have built right in.

At the $800 price point that this amp sells for new, I don't think you can go wrong with this amp, or its head version, the Band Master Vintage Modified. Definitely check one out!

The 40w are advertised there, very hairy, especially in his clear, moreover (it is Fender, nothing new!). The result is that finally reaches a saturation have not draft high gain.

In any case, an equation for each separate channel, and it's fun!

    UTILIZATION

Initially, galley a bit for the effects settings and then it becomes instinctive. More disconcerting, at first, the interactions of the equation on the same grain of the overdrive. You change the type of overdrive depending on your settings equa, which suggests a beautiful palette. One can even venture to produce drives consistent in tones that would not refuse Van Halen, although this is rarely why you buy a Fender.

    SOUNDS

The clean sound is thicker, less brilliant than that of a hot rod, plus a twin spirit. At first, it seems less flattering, but it makes it much easier to squeeze in mix, and gives him the advantage with overdrive pedals.
In any case, this type of sound I expect from a Fender Hot Rod not the sound.

The drive ... large capacity gain. Typed a little brown sound, not ideal for the noisy pop-rock, but it does in rock, blues, hard (not metal) and country. With my musicman: it sounds bold, with a good supply of bass. We're in a spirit Ted Nugent / Creedance, depending on the setting of gain. It is the only Fender (with twin amps) that really cash in my musicman drive, with the definition (even if the grain is smoothed with doubles. Enthusiasts Santana and Gary Moore ...). With the Baja Tele ... Well it looks like they're made for each other is amazing! I can take my Tele in registers of very high gain (in a style blues / rock), the twang is there, but not treble assault that would have involved lead with a marshall with the same guitar.

I use it for 6 months, and I took him in concert regularly. Like any Fender amp, it highlights the guitars of the same brand, but also allows me to plug guitars far more guts, which was possible only with the Evil Twin (Twin Amp 2 channels). It is fine for a record ranging from blues to heavy rock or even country. I did not think I use the effects at first, then finally, they are very nice.

The accusation that I will respect the HP does not seem to live up even if it does its job. But side benefit, there was an amp lightweight compared to other brand.

This is certainly not the amp of the century, but it's probably the only Fender that will stay in my arsenal. I also play on a stack JCM 800 2210, 1983, a Peavey Classic 50 head and tried quite a few bugs, the same brands and others (engl, brunetti, Rivera). So this amp is not the most subtle, the richest, best suited to the studio. on the other hand, to the bar and club, it ensures it right by being able to go into a lot of records sound (though it remains rock, blues) and whatever the guitar. I take it that he live for 6 months anyway (and I have emerged from the 800 only once, and with the Fender VM and more).

Not too bad for the price

for the money this isn't a bad offering by Fender. This is sort of a step above the solid state amp modeling amps that are a little lower on the price point. These amps actually sound pretty decent. Not too many features but enough to get you some solid tones and effects all in one easy amp package.

This would be for someone who wants to go simple and keep it clean.

    all-tube amp, 40 watts
relatively strong: I do not exceed 3 in repeated even with a drummer CRAZY!
A clear sound (volume, trebble, bass)
An independent distortion (theft, trebble, mid, basss)
    3 built-in effects:
    - A reverb to be used sparingly if not too cavernous
    - A delay: ideal for coloring the sound! ditto for the chorus
while the switch is actuated by a 4-way

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it for almost 2 months, in lieu of a classic 30! I tried bcp amp before and I always came back to classic 30! the I found an amp versatile and well made
no noise like on the classic ... c very appreciable! and the presence of a standby
remains to be seen how it will age
    amp to try!

    Super Amp

    40W lamps.
Before detailing the sound, I said that I was somewhat reassured about the power of the beast: honestly can enjoy apartment. It does not exceed 2 or 3 in 10 in volume, but it was already a very good sound.

    UTILIZATION

This is a really simple amp to use, and I like it.
In 2 minutes it was all inclusive, and the settings are very easy to do. In short, we can immediately start playing.

It's perfect for many styles of music I find is more versatile than a lot of other amps. Should not be too bad rock too sure, but otherwise anything goes.

The clean sound is beautiful. Very round, and with great bass. on the other hand it is totally clear, no way to mess a bit. Except perhaps when pushed a little more, but I have not tried it.
The Drive channel is also very good. It is the distortion that can be solved with minimal saturated sound for barely crunchy, and you can go to a distortion to bleed, but not too much. It's not a big big distortion (and that's good I do not have the utility).
And for those who prefer a pedal for distortion, it also works really well (I use a Boss OS2, which is excellent).
I play it with a Start and frankly I took my foot.

The effects are few, but very good. The reverb is very good (if not exceed 1 or 2 in 10, but hey, it's the same on all the amps unfortunately), the Delay impeccable, and the chorus very pretty. And all this is very easy to adjust, plus the 4-button footswitch is supplied with the amp.

    OVERALL OPINION

I play over the past week, and I'm really happy with my purchase.
I tried several amps, and I knew if I took it directly there, I saved time.

In his "distortion" is really great, but it is closer to the crunch sound as the real distortion. That's why I added a distortion pedal. I play very often but only with what is embedded on the amp. The reverb is really great (though it is not spring loaded) and I leave it plugged in almost all the time. The footswitch that came with the amp is really beefy (the buttons are a bit close). Power level, forcing it rocks and if you want to play in apartments ... immediately forget this amp. Because 40 W lamp, it sends hard. But even at a low level you recover the heat lamps. Indeed, before this amp, I saw no difference in sound when I changed the volume of the guitar pickups. There, it's delicious.
Only downside, when I push the amp with my gibson, bass vibrate the front of the amp ... it does not agree with the microphone placed before transplanting, but it's a bit annoying. I did not really addressed the problem, but I think this problem is solluble. Good if you have other questions, feel free.
PS: I would do the purchase without hesitation. I hesitated with another amp in the same price range and after a year of research, testing and hesitation I always came back to this one.
PS2: There is a written test and video in a Guitarpart.
