The Digitech Turbo Flange is a stereo flanger pedal designed for use with electric guitar. It is a digital piece of gear that has a 1/4 inch input as well as two 1/4 inch outputs if you want to use this as a stereo pedal. The Digitech Turbo Flange is not a rack mountable unit as it is stomp box.

UTILIZATION

The configuration of the Digitech Turbo Flange is really easy to understand as it is very basic in make up. It simply has four knobs - one for speed, one for depth, one for regen, and one to choose the mode. It contains seven modes in all, all of which are pretty different. While it may not seem like it has a lot of control with only four knobs, there is plenty of tone control available on this pedal to get a wide variety of different sounds. The manual for the Digitech Turbo Flange is pretty clear and thorough, but really isn't needed as the pedal is easy to figure out on its own.

SOUND QUALITY

The sound quality of the Digitech Turbo Flange isn't that impressive in my opinion, but still is a useful pedal that has a good amount of different flanger tones. I usually use this pedal with a Fender Strat plugged into a '76 Fender Twin Reverb, so I believe I'm getting a pretty good representation of what this pedal can do. While I do like some of the sounds on this pedal, it just doesn't have that professional sound quality that I look for in a guitar pedal.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the Digitech Turbo Flange for only about a year and I don't use it all that often. I like a few of the sounds on this pedal more than I do the rest, namely the step modes as they have a very cool quality to them. Don't get me wrong, this is a nice sounding pedal with a good deal of versatility, but the professional tone isn't there in my opinion. The price makes it a great option for players on all levels and is perfect for the player looking for a cheap flanger pedal to mess around with. Overall, the Digitech Turbo Flange is a good sounding flanger pedal, but I would much rather have a Boss BF-2 as it is around the same price and sounds way better.
