According to Q-Tuner this model combines the power of neodymium magnets with greater efficiency "free standing" air coils to provide a linear frequency response. Winding geometry is said to have been optimized to provide a better humbucking action. Also, in order to meet the growing interest in a neodynium bridge Q-tuner for metal/rock guitar all GL series pickups can be 'beefed-up' to Super High Z ratios, so as to provide a highly aggressive yet well defined overdrive sound.
