    Sound but no robustness

    Vox V847 Wah-Wah Pedal (1994-2006)Published on 09/23/11 at 08:59
(This content has been automatically translated from French)
    Vox Wah made in China.
    Analog
    A jack input for guitar
An output jack to the amp
Pressing the pedal forward on the switch to enable or disable the effect.
    A basic wah!

    USE

No need for manual ... You just learn to use it wisely and up ... :)

    SOUND QUALITY

The sound is good, that of a typical 70's wah.
I prefer it to that of a Cry Baby, it's just a matter of taste (I find that there is more range in the wah that is more "liquid").
For Funk I practice I love.
I use a Tele and my 62 Reissue Strat US Std, a real pleasure :) ... at first ... :(

I use a Tele and my 62 Reissue Strat US Std, a real pleasure :) ... at first ... :(
I put enough because after one year and a half of use (1 Repeat / week 2H, home exercises + some concerts) it started to sputter ...
It's not too noticeable group (though) but if there is a track record that is just unbearable ... :( and disappointing.
The sound is good but not robust pedal (and I'm not a bully with pedals ...)

    NOTICE GLOBAL

I have a JH, tried Morleys, Cry Baby, I hooked the sound of the Vox ... but I have used it a year and a half before it starts to sputter and since I only hear that when I play ...
In addition I have added a felt pad for engagement / disengagement is done properly after a year ...
But I like the sound so that I almost redeem.
Apparently I'm not the only one to have observed this phenomenon on the Chinese version of this wah, 80 € for 1 year and a half of fun and frustration I finally abstained.
So I bought another more versatile wah: Wowee Wah G-Lab (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOrUS8iGsT4) meets me at the moment.
I kinda broke my piggy bank but this wah is indestructible ... I think (for heavy use anything to say for a year and a half that I have).
In addition there is an effect trigger mode when you set foot on it.
In pieces that alternate wah wah and more or solo when there is the distortion or overdrive off to return to clear what tranquility ...
Today (September 2011) I saw Dunlop Wah fate of Jimmy Hendrix who have a little look "at the Vox" without gloss cover.
    We should try them.
Otherwise there is the "high" range from Fulltone example but it not cost almost 300 € for a ... wah.
I can not find the quality / reasonable price given the potential lifespan of the pedal ...
Tell Mr Vox you can not make them last a little longer your wahs?
Because the sound, we would like to keep it clean as long as possible even for a little more ...

Wha-wha classic, no adjustment of tone, or frequency boost.

    UTILIZATION

Similar to the Cry Baby, a switch under the pedal can engage or not the effect.

Brief, resold. Advantage to 50EUR t purchased, you sold 50EUR, nothing lost.
I put 5 for the deception, but if you find a chance to avezla 70s and the owner you cede not too expensive (my first recue a 25EUR, I have sold the furious)

    OVERALL OPINION

Overall opinion: for I made in USA precise:

I would buy n not recent, but the old ones are excellent. It depends on the internal components. At the limit, buy one for modding, but it will eventually get back pretty expensive (Halo inductor, c ca is the secret condensos a higher tolerence and al knob old, with greater progressivity.
Anyway, finally, I have found my happiness rather with a vintage Modtone: 50EUR for a pedal with true bypass in + one, and led witness the adjustment of hardness pedale.Ca actually sounds vintage, thanks al inducer halo origin and entire + bazard.Que ask? a Q / P amazing.
J have also acquired Dunlop JH1 old in old, almost given by the seller (the cost of sending large) Vachement usee, but the circuit design and the Thomas Organ knob of origin and the old inductor whawhate death kills, although Funky Hendrix and I have also kept my 535Q for boost.

    This is a non-optical analog.
    It is very robust.
I put 7 because the original pedal does not contain a power jack 9V AC outlet which is really annoying. I was lucky enough to stumble upon a modified pedal with this socket just a big plus.
Attention USA versions only have a True Bypass!

    UTILIZATION

To activate the wah must rely heavily on position (toes down), so it will not switch back with a false movement within jump.

With the decline of other pedals that I am not a big fan of his race.

    SOUND QUALITY

She brought out a sound that sounds Hendrix is clear. This is also a reissue of time so that side no worries. Even without playing the pedal, just by activating and leaving the shutter sound has a beautiful grain.
But this lack of difference between the two extreme positions of the pedal, it is not very well marked.
Do not try to make him out to the big wah in marilyn manson sweet dreams or otherwise, it will not work. It is made for clean, crunch, and play blues or rock 70 '.
Caution Chinese versions (not USA) have a bad reputation on the quality of sound reproduction time. It may be useful to seek a U.S. version even pay more. Personal I live had a USA so I can not compare but this is what came out of the forums when I tried to get it.

    OVERALL OPINION

It's been 2 years that I have, I paid € 100 used which is quite expensive but it is a U.S. version with an outlet so it is not negligible in the price. Honestly it would be at least 20 to 30 € more than the Chinese now.
The most positive point is that it beautifies wonder all the little sounds too powerful by making a little lens.
The price / quality ratio is good if you play in this record, I personally have paid dearly for the little I use it even if it is wrong.
Again, if you are looking for the Hendrix is THE pedal! Doubt.

    UTILIZATION

The sound is typical and should not expect a long race than a morley, we find the hot spot very easily and it is always music. Wha extreme fans go your way instead she screams in the court of rock and blues.

I used it for about 5 years before offering it to my brother in law because I went on a vox AD120VT with VC12. It works just as well at the time it is.

WRONG! I wanted to song from Gnr - Mr.Brownstone (Solo) I bought this one and though i would get the sound, Well I was REALLY disapointed!

As mentioned, It might be alitte hartbreaker, Cuz it only makes on type of sound, And MOST likely it ain't the sound you have heard from a song.. I have now tested a hell alot of gear, Included Boss GT6, And i must say The gt 6 wah wah is better, WAY better, And ALMOST as heavy :P

One more thing, This don't happend to many other i think, But mine is a litte silly somtimes.. Don't know why..

You know that German tank.. Oh what's it name?? Tiger tank? Well the V847 Wah Wah is MORE SOLID, IT's FASTER, DELIVERS FASTER! I TREW this thing from one wall to another, jumped on it with my cowboys boots, i almost one times burned it, The only problem was the damn thing had WRONG battery , some idiot thought it would be fun, He's face WAS funny after i got to him! WEll egnough, This shit is SOLID, Belive me, GREAT FOR WAR , GREAT!

Be carefull when buying it, Don't say to the retailer , "I buy this one" Try it out, Compare , There is 1000th others wah wah's on the market, You might have to go up in price abit..

Bottom line : OK for some use, Dipends on your playing, AND this goes BEST with Fender guitars, I myself have a Gibson Les Paul, and the sound IS better on fender and or fender amp.s, Notice you are gonna burn on the wah wah, Somtime it will hit you that, OMFG is this a pieace of junk, 2 years later it become your personal buddy.. That's my Review, This has also been seen by my father, Who works in a guitar store, My brother is 35 and played since 13, Even the retailer took a look, And agreed in the most that writen here, Hope this helps!

I got together $100 and went to my local Guitar Center where I bought it for that much plus a little tax.

This pedal is a solid wah pedal with a tone you can't get from those other pedals that allow you to turn the little knobs and tweak your settings. After comparing to other wah pedals, even the Clyde McCoy Vox wah, it still had the best tone without having any fancy additions. Some may complain about how it doesn't have true bypass, but when you turn it off the sound is only a little bit more trebly than if you don't plug it in at all. The definite worst thing about this pedal is the fact that it doesn't have a 9-volt adapter ability. I've worked around this problem, because I have a pedal board that has an adapter for a 9v battery, and I can just take that into the pedal by leaving a little space open on the bottom plate. For everyone who doesn't have such a convenient option, I suggest you look around for an adapter like mine (I haven't made an effort to find one, but there's bound to be one somewhere) or to just bite the bullet and use batteries... this pedal is definitely worth it.

This pedal is tough and it's made of metal and everything... it won't break, and I haven't heard of anyone having such a problem as well.

This wah rules, go out and buy it.

I bought the unit at a local music store and paid $109 for it. I bought this wah pedal after experimenting with others.

The Vox V847 has the classic wah pedal sound. I have tried a lot of other pedals, including Morley, Akai, and Jim Dunlop. None of them had the exact "right" sound I was looking for; the classic wah tone you hear on Hendrix and early Clapton recordings. I tried the Vox and immediately I found that exact sound. I don't even know why I even bothered buying those other wah pedals. This is the one, without question.

The pedal is extremely solidly built. The chassis and the rocker pedal are metal, and the rocker pedal is chromed with a black rubber insert on top. It looks like an accelerator pedal for an expensive European sports car. The only way this pedal would break is if you ran over it with an 18-wheeler.

This is the best wah pedal I've ever messed with. It gives me that exact "classic rock" sound I was looking for.

It's simple and takes no logic to use....
well you should make sure you can talk and walk at the same time before using it ;)

I would like to mention that the volume will be a little lower once you turn it on though.

It's very sturdy. It is large and is heavy
    (not break your back heavy!!).

You won't find much plastic hardware on this thing, unless you include the rubber feet and the rubber protector foot grip.

Well, I will say that no one can copy Hendrixs' sound "exactly", but the man had this Wah, so that's as close as you'll get to the real thing. Unless you find a vintage vox Wah that is =)

    Vox V847 Wah-Wah Pedal (1994-2006)Published on 10/31/01 at 15:00
I bought this this unit new about a year ago in Denmark Street, London. If memory serves me right, I paid about £70 for it (after much haggling between the neighbouring shops)

Good traditional toe activated switch allows easy operation and above all, I like the range that the wah covers. I sometimes feel that the unit can make your guitar sound a bit too midrange, leave the wah in the wrong position for a split second and you will have your audience holding their ears in pain. Having said that, for the money, it is an excellent purchase. (In my opinion it beats the Jim Dunlop wah hands sown...) Remember, buying a Vox wah is buying a piece of history and you can sleep in your bed at night knowing that you have bought a tried and tested unit. One thing that niggles me quite a bit about this pedal is that it is not true bypass and above this, it does like to suck the tone!

This is build to last. That pivotal action and the switch are solid and have lasted no problem. Even units from the 60s seem to be holding well. What better advertisement can you get than that? OK, so now they are made by a different manufacturer now, but hey! In keeping with tradition, they still come in the chic 'leather-esque' case. Top! I think this pedal survives the road well. I hads no problems with it...

If you are looking for a cheapish wah that oozes class, looks and sound, this is your fella. Look after it...!

I bought this pedal through Musician's Friend, i had seen a lot of my favorite bands using it and i thought the look was way cool. I paid $120

it has a great sound, awesome when used in conjuction with: flanger, chorus or just plain reverb! if your looking for a wah this is it!

well, i road it pretty hard and the rubber cushion piece came un-glued and had to be fixed.

(see above) its very durable and comes well-greased

i love it! its the ONLY option for sweet sound and a great look.

    Vox V847 Wah-Wah Pedal (1994-2006)Published on 12/29/11 at 12:53
The VOX V847 wah pedal is a modern day take on their original wah pedal. VOX was the original company to release the wah pedal in 1967 and this one is quite similar to the original Clyde McCoy branded model from the summer of love. It has very typical wah construction. The pedal has just simple input/output jacks and the main on/off switch to toggle the pedal's function. It's very simple to operate, much like the typical Crybaby pedals. The tones of the Vox are a bit more vintage in nature which makes it an ideal candidate for someone looking for a more retro voicing in their wah pedal.

The tones of the Vox are a bit more vintage in nature which makes it an ideal candidate for someone looking for a more retro voicing in their wah pedal.

    UTILIZATION

Setting up this pedal is really quite easy. The wah pedal in general is quite easy to set up and this one is no exception. It has a wonderfully simple layout consisting of... a switch to turn it on! It's that simple really! It's got a nice vintage sounding sweep to it that works very well with clean or distorted tone alike. It might not have the punch of more modern sounding wahs, but it has a certain clarity to it that works really well overall. It's almost like having a treble booster on at times. It's not as bassy as the Crybaby, but focuses more on the high end tones I find.

    SOUND QUALITY

The tones out of the VOX V847 are very cool and retro sounding to me. Using this pedal with a good punchy clean sound is great for funk or other cool clean tones with a classic pulsating frequency adjustment. The drive tones are quite good too, great for using on leads to add a nice little treble boost to the tone or to sweep between bass and treble. The only con I would really say to the sound is that it might be a little lacking in the low end for some players who are used to a more modern tone.

    OVERALL OPINION

All in all I think the VOX V847 wah is a great interpretation of the original classic wah pedal. It has durable construction, a classic look, it's easy to use, and the tones are straight out of 1967. These don't cost a whole lot new, so if you're looking for a pedal that's a bit more vintage and brighter sounding than a Crybaby, or just want something a bit different, check this one out.

    Classic Wah

    Vox V847 Wah-Wah Pedal (1994-2006)Published on 12/23/11 at 08:56
The V847 by VOX is your standard wah pedal, very similar to the Crybaby. It has a metal housing with a heavy duty bypass switch mounted under the metal foot rocker board, four rubber feet screwed to the bottom, an input for your instrument and an output to go to your amplifier. There are no high tech optical switches, Q knobs, or modes to fool with or go bad on you.

    UTILIZATION

This wah pedal can sound good just about anywhere in the signal chain, but most people like to put it first in line after their guitar. I like that they use the same style of enclosure as the Crybaby, I like the sounds of some other wahs from Ibanez and Morley, but having to switch the pedal on and then …

There are no high tech optical switches, Q knobs, or modes to fool with or go bad on you.

    UTILIZATION

This wah pedal can sound good just about anywhere in the signal chain, but most people like to put it first in line after their guitar. I like that they use the same style of enclosure as the Crybaby, I like the sounds of some other wahs from Ibanez and Morley, but having to switch the pedal on and then use it takes too long for me. I need a pedal with the bypass under the treadle like this one. Some versions of this pedal have different tweaks for different mods and sweeps, but I find the original version to be more than enough to achieve those classic wah tones. The chrome on the top is just sexy. My main problem with this pedal is that they didn’t include a jack for external power. Why they did this I have no idea, but it turns a lot of people away from this otherwise great pedal. Most people opt for a power supply instead of battery power these days.

    SOUND QUALITY

The Vox wah has a distinct sound. The range of this model is fairly wide and you are able to get abrupt quacks or slow filter sweeps depending on how you use the foot pedal. This pedal has a little more meat and throaty sound than a regular standard Crybaby does. This pedal doesn’t have any other modes or settings to tweak, so what you get is what you get. It is a very well voiced wah though, and can cut through a mix without being to whiney sounding like some Crybabies I’ve tried in the past.

    OVERALL OPINION

The VOX V847 is a nice sounding basic wah wah pedal. I do feel it beats out the standard Crybaby just because it has a little more throaty sound in the mids and less of a tiny thin sound to the high end. It does steal a little bit of high end when put into your signal path, but nothing that can’t be corrected by your amplifier. The VOX, much like the Crybaby, is a staple in rock and roll guitar. Honestly I don’t think you could go wrong with either of these pedals. The one thing I didn’t like about this wah was the problem of not having an input for an external power supply, but VOX remedied this with production of the V847-A. I believe there were a couple other small changes to the circuit and the pot, but if it sounds close to the original reissue with a power adapter, it should be a winner too.

    Vox V847 Wah-Wah Pedal (1994-2006)Published on 11/29/11 at 20:40
This is a standard wah pedal, made by Vox. It can't be edited using a computer, and it's not MIDI-ready. It's an analog pedal and it's not rackable.

    UTILIZATION

The cool thing about this, unlike some good wahs, is that you don't have to take off the back to put the batteries in, and there's also an adapter feature. It's not every day you see that, and it saves a lot of time. It's the basic wah pedal, so it's easy enough to manage, just rock the pedal back and forth and click to bypass. The manual explains it all.

    SOUND QUALITY

    SOUND QUALITY

This is an interesting wah pedal, not the most obvious or generic-sounding one I've ever heard. In fact, one of the noticeable things about it is that it manages to make everything pretty clear without getting too bright. This is an issue for me with wah pedals, as I either find them too muddy or too bright. Although this might not be quite bright enough for me, it's refreshing to not pierce your eardrums every time you lean too far on a wah. A great thing is that when you bring it down really far, and filter out all the higher frequencies, you aren't muddying up the signal to no end. I can't always say that about my Vox wah, even though I love that thing. It's not the most transparent wah out there, but it's not too bad. I like it with my clean Strat sounds and the dirty ones, and really think the Les Paul with the gain cranked is a great sound.

    OVERALL OPINION

This is a great wah pedal. Wahs seem to be either good or bad, and this one's definitely good. I think it's not too expensive ($150 or so), so the value is overall pretty good. The fact that you don't have to fiddle in the back means I probably won't be breaking anything anytime soon, which is also a plus. I would highly recommend this one for functionality and reliability.

I use it only rarely saturation but it responds well.
What I appreciated, in contrast to CRY B is that there is no change of intensity and volume when activated.
In short, if you like funky well it is a treat!

    OVERALL OPINION

I had to buy it there 3 / 4 months, and after trying 3 / 4 different models I finally find the whawha that suits me, its price is a bit expensive (but hey c fo like that put the ve prices if it sounds) I have to pay 170/180 euro. in hindsight I regret to redeem ss.
Finally, as all it is better to try before you pls models to find the ITS and its operation but I think vs will be quickly convinced by the VOX
