Getting Started
Installation without problems, I use it with a roland octa-capture: no latency and soft rather stable despite some standalone crashes with the original drivers. AfterUpdate pilots use standalone is perfect.
I come to the big negative, and I think being a victim of an isolated case: the master volume changes value by itself, either by touching the knob on the dedicated controller or not, which makes the machine absolutely unusable live in conditions. The volume slider goes crazy. After several soft and even reinstalled the clean install of Snow Leopard Update drivers and firmware, the problem is still present.

Installation sans problèmes particuliers, je l'utilise avec une roland octa-capture : aucune latence et soft plutôt stable en standalone malgré quelques plantages avec les drivers d'origine. Après MAJ des pilotes l'utilisation en standalone est parfaite.

Suitability/Performance
I turn on an imac i7 4GB of ram, the app is unstable if the load of a dozen instances vst, while my Mac allows me to run more than twenty in my favorites daw without real concern.
The integration of VST sequencer in maschine is rather risky, even borked .. Let me explain: it crashes constantly, be it a simple drum pattern or a project loaded, examine everything.
The interface of the software will suit some, I am lost with all these colors who type in the eye, it is more than professional fashion for the coup. The onboard effects are no more, the use of plug-third is highly recommended to have a sound not too yucky.
The raw sound output is rough but punchy, tightly focused minimal / electro, it lacks personality.
The edit and navigate my faith is very well thought out, with a little practice you can manipulate everything from the controller without having their eyes on the soft, even when I make personal time with the mouse but it must be a blow to take.
Hardware side, the pads are reactive and it exudes quality, the finish of the plastic front is the only negative because the edges tend to cut easily.
The rotary knobs are neither too hard nor too easy to handle: the right compromise.

Je tourne sur un imac i7 4go de ram, le soft est instable si on le charge d'une dizaine d'instances vst, alors que mon mac me permet d'en lancer plus de vingt dans mes daw favoris sans réel souci.
L'intégration vst de maschine dans un séquenceur est plutôt hasardeuse, même complètement foireuse.. je m'explique : ça plante constamment, que ce soit un simple pattern de drums ou un projet chargé, tout est à revoir.
L'interface du soft conviendra à certain, moi je suis perdu avec toutes ces couleurs qui tapent à l'oeil, c'est fashion plus que professionnel pour le coup. Les effets intégrés sont sans plus, l'utilisation de plugs tiers est fortement recommandée pour avoir un son pas trop dégueu.
Le son brut en sortie est brouillon mais punchy, très axé minimal/electro, ça manque de personnalité.
L'édition et la navigation est ma foi très bien pensée, avec un peu d'entrainement on peut tout manipuler depuis le contrôleur sans avoir les yeux rivés sur le soft, perso je gagne quand même du temps à la souris mais ça doit être un coup à prendre.
Coté hardware, les pads sont réactifs et ça respire la qualité, la finition de la face avant en plastique est le seul point négatif car les bords ont tendances à s'entailler facilement.
Les potards rotatifs sont ni trop durs, ni trop faciles à manipuler : le bon compromis.

Overall Opinion
I bought it in August 2011, it functioned properly for about 4 months and since the master volume acting up. After 3 returns SAV the problem is still unresolved (5 months trying to get a new one, in vain) and I think to use legal means because despite the friendly technician, responsiveness and reliability are not to go.
In short, I spent almost 600 euros in a machine that works half the time and that does not fit the way I work, I am quite disappointed, however, being a big fan of KOMPLETE suites. NI has become a box at the com-powerful to bring water to the mouth of the public wanting easy access to musical creation, but not having a customer service to match its ambitions could turn the wheel. This phenomenon is a little Apple, we forget about the pros who are destined to be the basis for the field open to the public which obviously is much more profitable. The quality or the money, NI, we must choose!

Je l'ai acheté en août 2011, elle a fonctionné correctement durant environ 4 mois et depuis le master volume fait des siennes. Après 3 retours en SAV le problème n'est toujours pas résolu (5 mois à essayer d'en avoir une neuve, en vain) et je pense faire appel aux moyens juridiques car malgré la gentillesse du technicien, la réactivité et le sérieux ne sont pas au rendez-vous.
Bref, j'ai dépensé presque 600 euros dans une machine qui fonctionne une fois sur deux et qui ne convient pas à ma façon de travailler, je suis relativement déçu étant pourtant un grand amateur des suites komplete. NI est devenue une boite à la com surpuissante visant à mettre l'eau à la bouche du grand public voulant accéder facilement à la création musicale, mais n'ayant pas un service client à la hauteur de ses ambitions la roue risque de tourner. C'est un peu le phénomène Apple, on oublie les pros vers qui on se destinait à la base pour s'ouvrir vers le domaine du grand public qui lui évidemment, est bien plus rentable. La qualité ou le fric, NI, il faut choisir !
