Thread mpc 1000 and korg keyboard

so this is my problem. i have an mpc 1000 and a korg keyboard, i was told that i could use the keyboard as its own sound module and record in to the mpc via midi, the same way as if i had a midi keyboard and sound module. any truth to this? any suggestions
