«  A real Univibe »

Published on 04/23/11 at 15:10
Univibe effect, analog, true bypass switch.
It is a clone of the original model very realistic 60s (optical modulation circuit again with a bulb and photoresists).
Small size on a pedalboard.
Consistent standard 9V Boss. No battery (bulb too greedy). Fulltone provides the pedal with 9V.
SETTINGS:
Intensity: measurement of depth of the effect.
Volume: volume of output of the effect.
Speed: speed modulation of the effect. We see the modulated light bulb next to a witness who is also running.
Modern / Vintage: variant of tone color effect.
Chorus / Vibrato: effect Univibe hendrix vibrato or pitch bend effect

UTILIZATION

Two sheets provided. Useful to know the adjustment (screw under the pedal) the operating point of the lamp (bulb) modulation. Otherwise no need to use the manual to pedal.

SOUND QUALITY

Found EXACTLY the sound of Hendrix and Trower Univibe (Fulltone Trower uses today).
It's ultra-realistic, very clean and most important ... the dynamics is preserved. In addition, the digital effects do not.
The effect is completely different in the mix.
It's great after an overdrive and before a deadline.
Perfect in its clear to the arpeggio of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" with a period behind.

I use the pedal with Start, Tele, Les Paul, in Marshall amps, Koch. No matter, though the pedal is in good to do.
This effect is very typical of his time, but eventually, the sound is so good that I put in all types of music very naturally. I still have the same standard setting (nearly full intensity and speed in half) and each time it sounds great.
Even among other analog pedals (chorus, flanger, phaser, ...) this one stands out.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had a few months.
I knew that Univibe G-Major 2 (!), Which is imitated, but lacks the strength and depth of Deja 'Vibe.

Fulltone is a bit expensive but it's upscale (approximately 280eur in France). I bought around 200 € all included in the U.S..
Attention, the power supply transformer is a single output, which depends on the country of purchase. For purchases in the U.S. (120VAC sector), it is not usable, you should take another 9V.

This is one of my pedals pedals standing. For anyone who loves Univibe, no hesitation, the investment is not missed.
