Ibanez FRM100TR Paul Gilbert Signature
Ibanez has announced the new FRM100TR, inspired by Paul Gilbert with the original Ibanez Fireman model.
The FMR100TR features Gilbert's Fireman reverse Iceman body shape. The solid mahogany body features an original Ibanez Tight-Tune bridge and tailpiece. The guitar's neck is different from previous RG shapes in the Paul Gilbert series. The three-piece mahogany/maple/mahogany neck is thicker and fatter (22mm at the first fret and 24mm at the twelfth). In addition to the new neck, Paul's new signature guitar features a rosewood fretboard with taller and narrower frets than on his older PGM models.
The FRM100TR features DiMarzio pickups said to be favored by Paul. The bridge and neck positions feature DiMarzio Injectors, while the middle features a DiMarzio Area '67. They are designed with hum-cancelling construction to eliminate the noise but retain single-coil tone. The pickups are designed to have a modern tone compared to vintage single coil pickups.
Similar to Gilbert's other signature models, the FRM100TR features a specific layout to keep the volume knob location in Paul's favorite spot. In addition, the guitar features a pickup selector switch and an added tone control.
