G&L Tribute Legacy

The G&L Tribute Legacy is basically a take on the classic G&L Legacy guitar that was designed by Leo Fender to be like a better Strat, but made overseas as opposed to in the US. That being said it shares a lot of the high quality features as its US made versions. This one has an ash body, a maple neck with rosewood fretboard and 22 frets, sealed tuners, a G&L designed tremolo bridge, and a standard pickguard loaded with G&L Magnetic Field Design pickups wired to standard Strat controls. Pretty basic, but it blows away the typical Mexican Fender type Strat that it's competing with price wise.

UTILIZATION

The design of this guitar is pretty ergonomic. The one downsize is that it's kinda heavy for a Strat, but the body is nicely contoured and the feel is very professional and high quality. The neck has a nice profile to it that's like a nice medium C that I really like. Upper fret access here is fine... not really much different than any other Strat type, so there isn't much to say there. It's pretty easy to get good tones out of this ax, due to the high quality pickups that are used. The MFD single coils are really well designed and have a really nice wonderful Stratt-y "quack" that works really well for a variety of styles.

SOUNDS

The tones out of this guitar are excellent. Compared to a MIM Fender Strat, it's really worlds ahead. The pickups really have that Strat vibe down and it really excels at doing the classic Strat sounds as well as some modern sounds as well. The neck pickup has a nice glassy sound to it, the middle pickup has that wonderful nasally quality and the bridge pickup is nice and biting, definitely how a Strat should sound. Through a clean amp this guitar really sounds at home, with just the right amount of sparkle and definition for blues, funk or even country. The drive tones are great too, specifically if you're using this guitar for nice punchy rock sounds or soaring lead work - definitely a cool ax.

OVERALL OPINION

All in all I think the G&L Legacy Tribute is a great guitar for someone looking for a great quality Strat type guitar for not a lot of cash. These can be had for about $400 or so which is really a fantastic deal. You're getting a guitar with great quality, updated design, excellent parts and the same vibe as a Strat. It will smoke any stock MIM Fender or similar, so I recommend that you give this one a shot if you need a great S type for not a lot of dough.

UTILIZATION

To be clear, the guitars made today in Asia do not necessarily have a bad violin.
It is above all a question of 'specifications' and from this point of view G & L seems to have a very serious book.

I had a Mexican Strat, and the equivalent price lutherie (finishes) is much better on the G & L, not to mention the G & L pickups that are past the fender for a 'nice' guitar.

This is a very easy to play guitar, slide the handle alone.

The frets are a bit sharp on the sides but does not prevent the good playability of this instrument.

SOUNDS

The Stratocaster guitar is a pretty versatile and it is even more true with this G & L!

His horns lime and rosewood fingerboard gives it a sound Putôt round, with good bass present midrange / treble balanced and not aggressive.

The highlight of this guitar is clear (no pun intended) microphones.

Each one of the five positions provides specific sounds, it is not simply add midrange / treble to your sound, but you change the sound.

For example, the neck pickup is more 'woody', with low round with a dominant soft enough.

The neck pickup coupled with the micro center, it radically changes the sound, his breathing, he is more 'bubbly' steeper.
Bluesman for this position coupled with a slight overdrive and you sound Stevie Ray Vaughan!

The sounds are beautiful, airy with beautiful harmonics, and a very expressive touch that makes all the nuances.

Must still specify that it is not a vintage sound that is more modern, making it very versatile guitar. In the neck position, obtained by playing with tone, a very jazzy, it's amazing!

I owned a Fender strat classic player 60, with its decidedly vintage except in a register that blues / rock (in which she excelled), was not very comfortable in other styles.

The knobs are progressive, dual fulcrum bridge is an example of stability and seems indestructible.

Vibrato on the stem, there is a screw in fender as that requires the rod back every time.
Here it sinks and locks with a screw, so you always wear your vibrato hand where you want!

The tuners are good bills and keep tuning well, they repprochera still a lack of precision.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 4 years and for the price, I am always surprised by the quality of this instrument.

In summary I would say that this is a real alternative to Fender and like many others before me, I willingly abandoned and swear loyalty to Fender G & L Tribute series which on its leaves no chance to Fender Stratocaster and the Telecaster medium ranges.

So I do not imagine the luxury!

My use is not trs old but we see immediately that this hardware is good trs
APRS making the comparison with its competitor (in price) FENDER LITE ASH from home for example (varnish lightweight, micro means ...).
finish is impeccable, and even if the change of rope still required the selection of this beautiful guitar make and remake it from scratch which is two times the price
