«  The very very big! (And Made In France) »

Published on 10/25/11 at 08:46
The G-50 in a head Chillbass is all-tube guitar amp. The design of this head is based on the pattern of the famous custom 50 WATT HI! The cabling is handmade, antique.
There are four lights preamp (3 x ECC83, 1 x 12AT7) plus 2 EL34 power tubes.
The finish is perfect! Really a very good amp has taken a very affordable! The power output is 50W (plenty to be angry with the building next door if needed ^ ^) which is enough these days for any type of scene! The amp works equally well at low volume. The power range is wide and therefore highly valuable for use at low volume!
Found on it out in two outputs speakers in 4.8 or 16 ohms for all types of speakers! For my part I use a 2x12 Chillbass also with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers! It's good boost to have a concert like angin behind!

UTILIZATION

Setup is super simple, getting started is fast! 2 channels (normal and bright) each with two inputs: one active and one passive. For each entry there is a volume control (gain). Depending on the style of music played both inputs provides greater tonal flexibility. The settings for bass, treble and meduim used to isolate a special sounds and characterization for a particular style. otherwise even when all settings are flat, the amp already sounds of thunder which is rather surprising. I use more of a super overdrive pedal for distortion boss or ibanez TS9. The distortion is great, very precise and aggressive as it should! In addition you can play with the knob of "presence" on the distortion which swells even more! With this we can attack any style of music! To sum up the facade of this amp: 2 x 2 between bright and normal, normal volume, bright volume, bass, treble, mid, presence, master volume. Simple and effective!

For the picky, a little criticism on the fact that the adjustment of treble and before that of the medium but Fred can answer that by saying "this is for simplicity in terms of connectivity"

SOUNDS

I use this amp in a rock band. Stevie Ray Vaughan with The Who. I play on a Pro VGS eruption. In the effects I use a boss overdrive pedal super for distortion or Ibanez TS9 and a Vox wah pedal! Having two different channels allows me to use the channel for a bright crystal clear sound and very nice with a small round in the low and the normal channel for distortion with good treble and bass! It's a great big well ripped the Pete Townshend. In battling some of the settings on the amp so that I get on my pedal has found his style of Slash or AC / DC. I had the chance to play on several type of amp and that is probably the best I've had (though the fender bandmaster of the 70 was also sacred top!) In short it is a very versatile head all the best sound can come out! From funk to heavy metal believe me!
I personally have a slight preference for the normal channel's clear this time with the neck pickup of my guitar, it sounds pure!!

OVERALL OPINION

I use this amp since last September, and frankly I do not regret my purchase! The look is cool (plus Fred the owner of the brand seems to let go of the colors right now!)! Before discovering the brand Chillbass I played on the Fender Performer 1000, supersonic, bandmaster, the Marshall JCM 800, JCM2000, JVM
Vox but few matched the G-50 Chillbass!
The quality / price ratio has also facilitated my choice. Knowing also the person who made the amp is quite reassuring in case of failure if there a. All the manufacturing details are given if you ask the big boss! And I strongly advise all lovers of good sound amplifiers and speakers Chillbass!
I also had the privilege of testing his guitars, the California is a great product! Then the brand has plenty of ideas for the future! I long to see that! In the meantime you can get started in acquiring this amp eyes closed!
The only regret may be the logo ... looks quite fragile but it is the only negative note I could find so good ... nothing to discourage the production!
