The Rane Empath has great parameters that you can chance very easy, no need for the bulky manuals when you get this machine. Its all self explanatory and you will have the hang of it in no time, well in about 30 mins to be exact. Atleast that’s how long it took for me, then I was out of the beginner stage and really starting to understand how it works.

UTILIZATION

Manual was very clear and concise.

SOUNDS

I have the black Rane Empath and it feel s very well built, not cheap like a lot of mixers and dj gear that’s out on the market today. Rane didn’t make a product that was cheap and affordable but lacked quality. They built these mixers to last no matter how many gigs you got or...…

SOUNDS

I have the black Rane Empath and it feel s very well built, not cheap like a lot of mixers and dj gear that’s out on the market today. Rane didn’t make a product that was cheap and affordable but lacked quality. They built these mixers to last no matter how many gigs you got or how much traveling you are doing.
You can even purchase a case that Rane makes that will fit perfectly with your Rane Empath so you wont scuff up or scratch you unit up in anyway.
Sounds Great no hiss and great eq.

OVERALL OPINION

Overall the Rane Embath was a great purchase for me it comes in Black on Black , Rotary, Orignial Blue or the Grandmaster Flash Gold Signature Edition. All of the version have the same features there is nothing spectacular about the Gold Grandmaster Flash Signature Edition one, besides the look of it, and the look is very nice on that one I must say, the price of it is probably pretty high too since it’s a signature edition. Another great thing about the Rane Empath is that the adapters are universal, it accepts all Hz for use anywhere in the world because we all know what its like going to a different country and your equipment doesn’t work the same as it does in your home land. Rane Kept all the traveling working DJ’s in mind when they created this product.

For the music I spin, it had everything I needed.... some might say they need individual EQ kill switches, but for me that wasn't neccessary... I give it a 10!

Price paid

$850

UTILIZATION

After you get the hang of it (especially the cueing system) it is one of the most flexible mixers you can get.

SOUNDS

What can I say?!? Great Rane sound! Ranes have been known to have the best sounding mixers...

OVERALL OPINION

Ranes are built like tanks... You can always count on them and will never let you down.

I love this mixer! Faders are like butter with those Penny and Giles. EQ's are 3 band kills... has autogain that can be a lifesaver.... 2 band headphone EQ... Can't get more flexible...…

The mixer is setup nice. I esp like the split eqing and the curve adjustments for the faders. The auto gain is nice for mixing at lower volumes in the home studio. Another great thing I found was the dual headphone jacks. You have your standard 1/4" and then your 1/8". Its great. Very versitile

Price paid

$750.00

UTILIZATION

Once aqainted with, the mixers features can be put to use. I found the manual helpful, and also well indepth. The interface is laid out well, with plenty of space to not accidentally bump knobs and faders.

I could probably drop this thing from about chest hieght with doin any real damage. Its build solid and sturdy, and doesnt have a cheap feel to it...…

SOUNDS

I spin mostly electronic music (breaks and dnb, etc.) I also scratch, and this mixer works out great. Coupled with a Pioneer EFX-500 to make use of the AWESOME effects loops built in, its unstoppable. The sound qaulity is smooth and clean.

OVERALL OPINION

I love it. Everyone who comes over and plays on it loves it. I dont know how many times people have said "The faders are like butter!" A++ to this mixer

I'm very impressed. this is the most flexable mixer i've ever used. i love the "flash cue" feature, makes cueing easy as pie. The wet-dry controls for the efx is solid and it can allow the effects to be 100% enabled w/ only the processed signal. P&G faders, switching Power supply, XLR, TRS, and RCA outs, God they thought of everything!

$750

UTILIZATION

After 30 min of playing with it i quickly got the hang of it and became proficient w/ curve controls, gains, etc. The instruction manual is well written and includes a great guide to pro audio system setup.

The first thing ive noticed was how heavy this thing was. at 10 lbs it's not too heavy but it doesn't feel cheap either....…

The first thing ive noticed was how heavy this thing was. at 10 lbs it's not too heavy but it doesn't feel cheap either. The steel chassis seems thick enougth to survive a fall and the lexan toped face plate seems scratch resistant while retaining good looks. All of the 4 penny & giles faders feels sexy smooth while the knobs have a nice rubber feel suggest this mixer will never die.

SOUNDS

Very crisp and clear. This mixer made a huge improvement in my home studio. I spin progressive, house, and downtempo, and i cannot believe how clean and clear w/ very little noise my recorded sets sound. The only improvement they should make is add a couple more line inputs for cd players, groove boxes, final scratch, etc.

OVERALL OPINION

For the past 5 days i've owned it, i cannot stand to be away from it for more than a few hours at a time. Simply the best 3channel mixer i have ever used. and at the same time im curious why i don't see many of these mixers at clubs? God i love this mixer!
