This opinion concerns a Rickenbacker 4000 bass from 1971 to 1972 with a neck-through. Production in 1973 is going ds design cheaper and glue disappeared while beginners 80s.
It does makes the United States (of course). This makes it spcificit from the MODEL 4001 is the absence of the neck pickup, the lack of binding and white again in the form of point. The picture is attached is that of a 4001 and not a 4000.
We find also that two knobs: volume and tone. No switch. Finally we deal the A model with only the essentials.
When I bought mine, it had t change in 4001 with the addition of a neck microphone with 4 knobs and one switch. Your exact n'tait not gnial (the body was t real bitch and cblage silent catastrophe). The micro bridge (not that silent original sr) ds squealed as j'tais less than 10m from my amp. So I removed the neck microphone, the microphone chang bridge to a Seymour Duncan (waaaa!), presented a plaque and repeated the cblage 4000. The painting has a lot fireglo morfler in 40 years but the age was dark and I DCID to keep it as a despite countless pets.




UTILIZATION

The neck is super enjoyable. The low nose stings a little but it is absolutely superb, we can not have it all. Access in acute is not the strongest point but who cares, it is not the show is known for great play. APRS in terms of finding a good sound with 2 knobs, a should be fine. I advise even when at least one lamp to accompany the prampli bte ... or a transistor amp trs good quality (GK). I have no all-tube Ampeg (ben not) but my Ashdown EVO II does all that do the trick without ruining my back.

SOUNDS

So for all those who have never jou Rick, Listen to Rush, Motrhead, the very very first Metallica, the Beatles (let it be), Dozer, early Pink Floyd, ... The common thread is that good old low. The 4000 does not send micro neck but even when well in the low and can easily compete with the 4001 and 4003 MODELS. The sound is really powerful and incomparable. I play with an Ashdown ABM rig, a Bassdriver Tech 21 and occasionally a bass big muff. I play this bass stoner and gives exactly the right thing with a plectrum (I got put against-heart, I prfre fingers). The micro Seymour Duncan associated with the hardness of the wood and sustain the incredible Rick gives an alchemy that is scary. Graouh!

OVERALL OPINION

Oh yeah, I have not put any notes. It is far from being perfect bass (ergonomics questionable dsquilibre few versatility ,...) but it is what I always rv in terms of Aesthetics and sound. I had lots of bass (and I still have a lot) but it is extraordinary, incomparable (apart from possibly be an old Fender amricaine very heavy and cumbersome). She has a little magic and ct is likely the next 40 years my cts. Like an old Harley up by pice pice, it is priceless.

Rickenbacker made a great name for themselves back in the day, and this bass is a good example of why. American made, it has a single pickup. It has a standard RIc neck-thru design and two pickups, as well as 22 frets. It has a standard volume and tone knob configuration as well.

UTILIZATION

One of the defining features of most Rickenbackers, and this bass in particular, is its ability to be played easily. The thing is so smooth to play you can't even believe it. The neck-thru design offers an incredible sustain for a bass, and it sounds amazing. Getting a good sound is not difficult at all. The neck thru design does make it feel a little different from those guitars with snap on necks, but it's nothing a player can't get comfortable with.

SOUNDS

I tend to use this amp with a Crate bass amp. The amp isn't particularly impressive but i'm still getting a great sound regardless. I don't tend to play with effects on bass as much, so I tend to keep it pretty clean, although sometimes I'll allow a thick natural distortion that colors the sound really nicely. I can get some great John Entwistle-like tones out of it when I set the amp like this.

OVERALL OPINION

I like the playability and the sound of this amp most about it, along with the sustain. I didn't have as great a time playing bass before I started playing one of these, and it's not hard for me to see why. The bass sets you free to hold down the low end with a thunderous groove, as well as play a smooth, bright lead lines at the higher end. If you can get it for a decent price, it would be a good investment. You'll probably have to end up getting a reissue or something, but I'd still highly recommend getting one.

The Rickenbacker 4000 bass guitar is made in the USA, like all Rickenbacker instruments. It has 21 or 22 frets and has two pickups with both tone control and volume knobs for each.

UTILIZATION

I'm not sure what the neck is made out of, but it is fluid and easy to play all around it. It is easy to play both for traditional bass playing or for slap bass. It is easy to play all around the neck, including the top notes. The bass is somewhat heavy, but isn't inconvenient to pick up and bring somewhere. The inherent sound from this bass is extremely unique and it is easy to get a good sound from it.

SOUNDS

The Rickenbacker 4000 definitley suits my style of music as I play a lot of classic rock type stuff. It is a great sound for playing kind of a "lead" bass. It is great for slapping with and the sound has been made famous by players like Chris Squire from the band Yes and Geddy Lee from Rush. While, it certainly fits in with the whole progressive-rock sound, it is more versatile than just that and sounds great for rock and jazz as well. It is awesome to throw a little bit of overdrive on this, but even without it it has a ton of crunch to it.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the Rickenbacker 4000 for about three or four years. It is one of my favorite basses because of its unique tone, which is one that is hard to emulate with any other bass. This bass has become famous and well used because of this tone and also because of the awesome look and feel to this bass guitar. Just like its sound, it looks unlike any other bass and its ease of use and playability is top notch. The Rickenbacker 4000 is a great bass guitar for bass players on all levels and is definitley worth the reasonable price.
