I got this fx pedal off of ebay for 42 bucks total. I got this pedal because I tried it once and I loved the different options and the amount of different fuzz and noise types.


I like the sound emitted from this unit. It provides a lot of different outputs and is easy to carry.

I don't like the way you have to bank every so often. I wish it was made of metal alloys instead of hard plastic.

It is about the size of paper 11" X 8.5".

I have this thing since its release in '95, works every time (the footswitches are a little hard sheet with time ...).
This is the multi I use most, others are just passing fancies in the end.

So it is a hybrid device, analog input, compressor and distortion ditto, then it is digital. It makes a big difference in the end, these analog stages. What's great is the input adjustment with LED signal and clip, imperial to know where you are going, and fit any guitar multi-effects (and not vice versa!)

Zero setting! If you've read, very strange as a concept explanation. You have eight blocks accessed directly (no menu, etc.) on the unit, Compressor (3 levels point bar), Distortion (8niveaux only for overdrive, or 8 levels for the only disto !!!), Equalizer (15 presets no manual selection type lo-mid-hi is a pity), and Gate (8 gate levels, plus 3 violoning faster, 3 of violoning slow).
Then the modulation block, again zero parameter (each effect is proposed in 3-4 variants) but well made specific effects (eg octaver).
The delay block provides a set Multitap / pingpong and a single whole, the times are fixed, some time with 8 possible variations of feedback / intensity.
Finally the reverb block 3 times with 3 different reverb (hall room arena), and the master volume.
Pff!

UTILIZATION

It's very simple, apart from the coch ... EQ! The solution is to turn it off for overdrive, and put in position 1 (bass boost) for clean and distortion. Any other attempt is doomed to fail for lack of flexibility, unless you use one type of sound and the bypass.
Changing preset foot is very fast, very nice.

No tap tempo of course it did not exist, but all the presets are arranged well done, I smell a job as a musician to fine tune.

The rapid editing is unbelievable, you press the button on the desired block and turning the wheel basta ...

Low weight for no flat pedal down the banks of presets, not practice it sounds restricted to three situations.

The device is stereo jack 2fois more lineout more LineIn minijack headphone minijack and separate entry for passive expression pedal (wah-volume), that want?

SOUND QUALITY

Good flexibility of the compressor and overdrive, we are far from digital competitors. The distortion is warm and massive, very compact, a real headbutt in the belly is the effect it produces! It is marked grunge, I think it's the same as the name of the pedals (digitech dod then), then it does not figure ...

The gate is quite effective and shrewd, the modulations are great, the octave is also better than usual, the delays are quite varied (in stereo is great) anyway and I'm especially frappadingue the arena reverb (not found nicer way).

In short it is a shame for the equalizer that would give more flexibility to the FX7.

Imperial clear sound, very bluesy owl, and if it is the client for the Maousse beefy distortion is very compelling.

The lack of parameters is most apparent at high volume because any effect is too measured, but in practice if we play hard we do not need effects ...

OVERALL OPINION

I love this stuff, its simplicity makes me make choices once and for all and play it all. No room for dispersion, no offense to our friends painters.

The overall sound is quite wide and let the guitar breathe, I use the FX7 as much at home and at local repeat on my bassman (which also annoys me, see my review on it) to simplify history maximum while having something very correct anyway.

I also used my headphone interface triac SansAmp, adding nice effects in passing.

In short it is my tag a little guidance!

It sounds more natural than-zoom-digitech ibanez korg-(AP3 and pt3dx) that I and many others have done a little tour and left. The FX7 is him.
