I needed a Firewire card in order to make sound on both a desktop and a laptop. I hsit between the M-Audio FW410 and it and I finally opt for the FA-101 for the number of features well suprieur (8 analog inputs!) And problem of incompatibility of the M-Audio Firewire with some controllers.

The laptop: Packard Bell Athlon-M 2.4 GHz, 512MB, 40GB.

Having the card a few days, I have so far been able to do that trs short LGERS tests on my laptop with SX2, a plug-in drum samples (Plugsound) and a Status low branch.

I do not put that 9 / 10 because we have a apprci ADAT I / O ;-)

UTILIZATION

Installation is super fast!
First install the drivers
Then plug the card
And voila!

Just had a small problem during the installation Premire: you have to run Cubase SX with dpart SETTING THE freq of 44 KHz (indicated in the doc).

GETTING STARTED

Not yet put on the day but these drivers seem stable and effective.

For the latency, I use it right now 10ms, it must be down but I still had small 7ms plays ...

Nevertheless, 10 ms is dj nickel!

The multitrack recording did not really fear an APRS RPET entirely recorded on 8 tracks, it's all nickel!

OVERALL OPINION

Use for 3 days, just did some recording bass on a virtual drum, the sound is good trs trs (cost per headphone: AudioTechnica ATHM40FS).
