    Janglebox Compression/SustainPublished on 05/13/10 at 10:18
The Janglebox Compression/Sustain is the flagship pedal offered up by Janglebox, and is a great one at that. This is the pedal that Janglebox is known for, with their other pedals being offshoots of this pedal. This Janglebox pedal is an analog one with a pretty standard configuration, with 1/4" connections for input and output and requiring a nine volt power supply. It isn't rackable as it is a stomp box.

    UTILIZATION

If you've ever used a compressor/limiter before, either in pedal or outboard form, I think you'll feel at ease with the Janglebox Compression/Sustain pedal. The parameters include those for gain and attack, as well as a tone switch that consists of settings for dark, normal, or bright. I haven't seen a manual for this, so I can't speak to it's make up.

    SOUND QUALITY

The tone quality of the Janglebox Compression/Sustain is absolutely outstanding. Amongst those who know about this pedal, it is highly reveled for good reason. It has a creamy type of sound that allows for enough control between the gain, attack, and the tone switch. I really appreciate that even though there are only a few parameters here, that they decided to have an attack knob, because it really comes in handy. Too many compression pedals I find kill your attack and don't leave room to play with it, but this definitely isn't the case with this one. I used the pedal with a Fender Jazzmaster and '76 Fender Twin Reverb.

    OVERALL OPINION

While definitely a bit more expensive than most compression guitar pedals out there, for those who can afford it and are looking for immaculate tone, the Janglebox Compression/Sustain should absolutely be considered. This is up there with the best compression pedals that I've used, even though it at also amongst the most expensive. As they say, you get what you pay for, and you get a whole lot of tone with this pedal!
