Winter NAMM 2012 News
The plug-in pretty much functions...AND sounds like the hardware box. A fun plug for guitar...and even more fun for Dub delay stuff.
The UAD Ampex ATR-102 provides all of the original unit’s desirable analog sweetness. Like magnetic tape, users can dial in a clean sound, or just the right amount of harmonic saturation. The primary purpose of the UAD Ampex ATR-102 is to obtain tape mixdown sonics within the DAW environment. To obtain the classic tape mixdown sound, inst...
Well it's free so you can't really go wrong. Fortunately it's a great peice of software anyway, which makes it way better. It really has the capability of making normal instruments or recording into old timely pieces from the 20's to even the 70's. It's a very convincing sounds. Sometimes when I want the sampled feel to a beat that isn't sampled...
While don't have it at home, I use Sonalksis Ultimate-D at one of the studios that I work out of if I'm going to print mixes - whether they are roughs or final mixes. I don't know if it would be used in a serious mastering session, but for doing it myself it definitely does the job well. I've used other dithering plug-ins like those made by Wa...
While definitely a cool idea and an easy to use plug-in, I just don't find myself using Massey Plugins Slacker all that often. Don't get me wrong, it's everything as advertised as it works great for automatic back ups of your audio files, but for whatever reason I just find myself doing it manually. I guess I'm not much of a 'Slacker'! But fo...
As silly as it might sound, I actually find myself using Massey Plugins Listen quite often. All it does is cover up your DAW with the word "LISTEN," but when doing a listen down it is quite useful to not be distracted by your edit and mix windows, which can sometimes get in the way of your listening. Often I do find myself 'listening visually...
I really like to use delays on my instruments. But historically a lot of the ones I've tried end up sounding too digital. That's understandable because it's hard to emulate warm analog delay sounds with a vst. I've been through my fair share of wannabes. In general I find most of them to lack transparency and warmth. They make then tracks s...
I like how easy this plugin is to use and I think if it didn't sound so dynamically processed it might be my #1. The "magic" button is a mystery to me really. The manual doesn't really explain jack about it. Well, it tries but does more harm than good I think. I get the feeling this vst was supposed to be geared toward beginners. Makes sens...
The Massey Plugins Mono - Stereo plug is a good tool to have around. While using plug-ins in multi-mono format is okay, this makes it true stereo. I use this mostly with the Massenburg Hi-Res EQ plug-in as it isn't a stereo plug-in. Of course it will work with any plug-in that doesn't have stereo capabilities. It's not something that's 100% ...
This is a very solid plugin if you're looking to reduce noise from the overall track, and I find it works great for that. You can really sculpt where you want to reduce the noise and clean up the overall signal. It works awesome for some of those older analog recordings you may have laying around. You can use it as a normal gate, but I find t...
