Made by John Suhr from the Fender custom shop and Pensa Suhr in Lake Elsinore California.
Set-up...alder body, one piece even C shape maple neck, original FLoyd Rose term, 2 Suhr JST single coils, 1 Suhr DSV Humbucker in the bridge, 5 way selector, volume, tone, passive mid control, and on board 9 volt boost.

UTILIZATION

One of the best playing Suhr guitars I owned. This one was number five.
Easy access to higher frets (scalloped) neck heel.
Stayed in tune no matter how bad it was abuse. Came set-up super well.

SOUNDS

This is how a Super STrat should sound, feel and be made. It sounded great for high gain stuff through my usual suspects of amps (Mesa T-verb, VHT D-60, Soldano Avenger, old Marshalls and Fenders).
But it also sounded like a good old Strat with the single coils. Which is not all that common when you have a Floyd style bridge. What helped there was that I installed a Tremol-No which makes the guitar sound like a vintage bridge equipped Start.
The coolest part was the Alembic Strato-blaster copy boost that was installed. With a vintage amp with the boost on you got lovely crunch, with a crunchy amp with it o it was just searing.

Also worth mentioning is the passive mid control, basically a scoop control. Which unlike most folks would assume was not for gain but for clean stuff. Middle single coil with it rolled down is the hippest Funk tone I've come across. Neck and middle pick-up together with it engaged was almost like an acoustic guitar. Very, very nice. All guitars should have that feature.

OVERALL OPINION

My favorite Suhr I've used. As a matter of fact one of the best Super Strats I played. And it didn't have the inherent Stat with hum bucker in the bridge midrange honk. Suhr did good with this!

UTILIZATION

Channel incredibly comfortable and easy rllement play the chords anywhere on the fretboard and just plain sound great with the Buzz Feiten system and new microphones Fletcher Landau (FL) dchirent all ... .. if you try your damn you and will hurt the bank account ......

SOUNDS

I play essentiellemnt blues, rock and fusion and is perfect both in its clearly saturated.

OVERALL OPINION

Uses for a week I sleep with almost, I played with a Fender Deluxe 60W (4hp) lamps. parat it that Tyler are not bad either but I would do without this choice hsiter if I had more. She and a few chronic States but with the $ decline is the same qd / / / /

Suhr guitars is a boutique guitar maker from California. They have taken the classic strat design and taken it into the 21st century. From the outside it looks like a standard strat but when you play it you will feel a world of difference. This one has an alder body like most strats and a vintage style 1 piece maple neck and fretboard. The fretboard has 22 stainless steel frets. It has a standard Fender style tremolo system. It has 3 single coils in a strat configuration but they are modern single coils and very quiet. It has the standard one volume and two tone controls with a 5 way blade style pickup selector.

UTILIZATION

The setups on these guitar are the best. With the stainless steel frets the frets will never wear out. They will always be a smooth as brand new frets. The frets are PLEK'd which means the guitar is put into a machine and a lasers are used to level the frets. This means your action will be as low as possible. With this perfect leveling and stainless steel frets the setup will barely ever need adjusting. Having a setup this good is something strat players will not be use to.

SOUNDS

With Suhr's special pickups there is no noise at all. I dont know what they have done to eliminate the noise but it is great. Without the hum from the single coils you can really hear all the articulation from the pickups. The Suhr pickups blend perfectly with the wood and work together to get a great sound.

OVERALL OPINION

I wish all strats were like this guitar. People frankly should not have to pay this much money to get a strat with a modern setup. If a small company like Suhr can produce quality like this that means a big company could do it a even a lower price.
If you are looking for the best strat on the market and do not care how much it costs the Suhr classic is the strat for you.

The Suhr Classic is a purely vintage style guitar with a few modern twists to it. Given that the normal Classics are custom shop guitar, there are tons of options to choose from. The one I played had an alder body, a maple neck and fretboard, 22 stainless steel frets, a vintage six point trem, SSS configuration, one volume, two tones and a five way switch.

UTILIZATION

These guitars are put together so nicely that it's almost unbelievable that companies like Fender can stay in business. The fretwork on these guitars is scary good. The stainless steel frets mean that you never have to worry about your frets wearing out or getting dull like nickel does. The frets are also PLEK'd which means that a machine leveled them. This allows you to get super low action on this guitar without worrying about fretting out like so many other old school strat-style guitars.

SOUNDS

The pickups in these are purely vintage spec with a slight modern twist. For one, this had the special backing plate option which meant there was no hum at all. That is a huge improvement from the strats of yesteryear. They pickups all sound super clear and woody sounding. The vintage feel is there, but they also respond to the volume and tone knobs like crazy. There's just something about these that makes me want to play all day long.

OVERALL OPINION

Given that the Classic I played was a custom guitar, it cost a good bit of money. However, I feel it was worth it since the guitar totally destroyed any Fender I've ever played. The pickups were super clear and silent, the neck felt broken in, it had stainless steel frets and I was able to get the action I wanted without compromising the ability to bend to certain notes.
