Fender Puts On a Spurt

Fender Blacktop Series Review

Instead of launching the umpteenth reissue of a catalog instrument, Fender decided to innovate by mounting high-output passive humbuckers on a new series called Black Top. This new product range includes a Telecaster, a Jaguar and a Stratocaster equipped with the same pickup combination based on two humbuckers. The Jazzmaster gets a more original pickup combination with one humbucker (Hot Vintage Alnico Bridge Humbucking Pickup) and one P-90 in the neck position. Read more…

maple neck very good thanks to its varnish
    22 frets as us
ergonomics of the body as a deluxe us (with indentation).

    UTILIZATION

sutain heavy but amazing for a telecaster.
Genial ba I would say in any jazz, blues, blues rock, rock to see even more extreme without any worries btw.

    SOUNDS

voila it also I was getting sonnorité makes us palire the telecaster, microphones ultra polivalent pemiere is the time I find that humbuckers are as good when its clean crunch and distos of any kind.
tone knobs really greenhouse something too and super exploitable ever seen.

    OVERALL OPINION

I would say overall it's a guitar that was not known for these qualities asser but well worth the necks I ais exchanged against my sg standard 2010 it is to say.
I find no fault ha if I change the ugly knob against real TV and Mecas vintage Kluson but his apartment, even reverse the position of the plate and the control really handy why not have thought of that before. frankly he did very very very expensive fender Btw to date it is the only one to have to renew their range has the same increase their SQUIER.

    A High Gain Tele? Yep!

Fender Blacktop Telecaster HHPublished on 08/08/11 at 19:43
This Tele's main draw is the high output alnico humbuckers, and as advertised it delivers crunchy tone like few others in Fender's lineup of teles. Mine has an alder body with a maple neck and rosewood board, 22 frets, and is a hardtail. The controls are: One master volume and master tone, and a 3 way switch, just like any other tele, but the knobs are cool, elongated witch hats that give off a cool old school vibe.

    UTILIZATION

The tuners were not so great, I find that they slip with extreme bending. The pickups cleaned up well, and you can get a useable clean tone out of 'em, especially if you roll off some high end with the tone knob. I liked the neck on it. It's Fender's take on…

    UTILIZATION

The tuners were not so great, I find that they slip with extreme bending. The pickups cleaned up well, and you can get a useable clean tone out of 'em, especially if you roll off some high end with the tone knob. I liked the neck on it. It's Fender's take on a modern C shape, which is less obtrusive than a regular Tele neck, and not as rounded as a strat neck. Medium jumbo frets make this easy to play, although I prefer jumbo frets, you really only find those on superstrats.

    SOUNDS

Very convincing woman tones can be had if you roll the tone all the way off. The neck pickup doesn't get muddy at all, it still stays sweet and articulate. The bridge can really rip, it does sound a bit thin, but it's got lots of snap and high midrange. One thing I can't stress enough is the articulation of these pickups. I've never got a muddy tone out of it.

    OVERALL OPINION

The overall feel of the guitar is a touch unrefined however. It might just add to the appeal if you're bashing out rock songs on it, but there's a lack of solidity and weight to this guitar that leaves me wanting. The tuning stability is a problem

I liked the clarity and bit of the pickups, and the neck feels really good.
