Published on 07/27/11 at 23:23
Value For Money : Excellent
Preamp Lamp:
February 12 AX7
3 Canneaux: Clean / Crunch / Disto
A front or rear entry (for rack mount)
A loop, a headphone output, a simulation output HP, a standard output.

The ability to switch via a foot cranberry (stereo cable)

It has everything one can ask a preamp.

UTILIZATION

Simple configuration for a preamp,
To clean a button Low / Mid / + switch Hig clean bright (brightness selector).

The crunch and lead on a gain, presence and level separated
but the settings Low / Mid / High are common.
For the crunch found a selector Pre-EQ and Treeble, each one of three different levels.
For Lead, there is a selector Treeble 3 levels.

There is a general master.
-------------------------------------------------- ---
The manual is really amber, but enough, he explains every knob, switch, input-output, a wiring diagram is given for information to get what you can do with the beast.
A wiring diagram is also given, which can be realized in the signal path of the beast!

SOUNDS

The preamp should I just did, I had hesitated (for the price) with the SS-20 preamp pedal, but I found it too sharp and lacking in so genral settings.

The lens is clear, in the heat.
The crunch has quickly saturates my taste, but still utilisabe with very little gain.
The distortion fits my style of music (metal)

I use it in a loop in my G-system, with a tube screamer story of a little round the sound of the distortion, I plug all be in my HP PC with a simulation in the ass (like tube amp) or studio with a power amp (Marshall or other).

I use a LTD, a Vigier and Heartfield, in three cases it sounds.
It is with the microphone active (EMG) or passive (Di Marzio).

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 7 months a few ready.

As said above I tried the SS-20, a rack in the price of nine, I had no real choice in the store, but even if there had been, I think I fell in love this one.

I like the clean side of the lens that reminds me of one of my ENGL powerball.
I like the crunch that saturates less quickly.
The distortion is also the one I wanted.

The quality / price ratio is excellent.

This preamp is an integral part of my configuration REPEAT studio, so yes I would do this choice without hesitation, almost as though I'd try the preamp ENGL-530 which costs 100 euros more and looks so huge.
