After having a 1820 PCI on my computer "fixed" (Athlon 3200, 1 Giga of ram), I switched to a laptop (Centrino Duo + 2 Giga of ram) and a USB 0404. I wanted to carry the toy around and "work". With a master midi keyboard usb (Keystation 61 es M-Audio), the choice is desirable a priori to control VST instruments and greedy (we know them all ...) in Cubase SX 3 or Tracktion.

UTILIZATION

Installation succinctly and without pb under Win XP (Compatibility waiting at E-mu Vista)
General configuration very very big big medium for random cracking a few minutes of use, whatever the chosen latency ...

GETTING STARTED

Drivers regularly updated on the site E-mu + road map for Vista compatibility. Good latency (up to 2 ms ...) but, I repeat BIG cracking, despite the two interventions on less softs Cubase SX and Tracktion ... (See below for final decision, because I found "a" Cheats ... there may be other ...). We arrive to record / listen to the guitar direct effects (Guitar Rig 2) without pb and accompanied by instruments vst greedy ...

OVERALL OPINION

In use for three months now, but found for sesame crunch since yesterday, that's why I write this opinion (which is only mine, but one to which I refer most often. ..) => use the ASIO4ALL driver => more crack ... Amazing is not it? I "twist" effects, plugins, vst, instruments in all directions, and presto, miracke over crunch ...
My conclusion, great product (for the use I have) but ACHTUNG: use the ASIO4ALL drivers, is a board ...

Update of 21/06/07: In fact, drivers asio4all or not, bp saturation of its persistent. Back to square one manufacturer. No bueno at all at all. I will change the map ...
after 1820 without a problem, I trusted E-MU, baaaah ... not anymore. Too bad.
