Though rectangular in shape, the Switchback 312 utilizes an internal triangular chamber to house three special design 12-inch speakers, attaining the same output volume as typical 4×12 designs, according to 3rd Power.
The Switchback 312 debuts at NAMM 2011 in Anaheim, January 13–16; 3rd Power is located in Booth #2984 in Hall D.
The Switchback 312 also employs 3rd Power’s Switchback porting system on the back of the cabinet. A triangular port behind the speaker cluster gives the user a closed- or open-back sound, designed to double the tonal possibilities of any amplifier the cabinet is paired with.
Price
3rd Power has priced the new Switchback 312 at $1099 in its standard configuration, which includes special design 12-inch loudspeakers. Optional upgrades are also available.
