Best value: Excellent
5-string electro / acoustic purchased in the U.S. but probably made in Japan (I checked). It is no longer in production.
The microphone is a Fishman piezo pickup mounted in the bridge.
The preamp AEQ-SS is a well positioned on the front of the rib near the neck.
A volume knob.
4 cursor: low, mid, high, jacket.
A phase reverse switch to fight feedback.
1 Battery indicator
Mahogany neck - the handle bar adjustment accessible from the rosette
I replaced the original mechanical by Gotoh black.
Spruce top. Sides Mahogany.

Body Style :5-String Cutaway
Top Wood: Spruce
Back and Sides: Mahogany
Bridge: Rosewood
Finish: Natural Low Gloss
Electronics: Fishman Pickups Pickup Sonicore with AEQ-SS Shape Shifter EQ
Neck Material: Mahogany
Inlay: Pearl Dot
Fingerboard: Rosewood
Scale: 32 inches

UTILIZATION

The guitar is well finished
Good ergonomics and comfortable handle.
Access to acute is reasonable for a sound with a set neck.
Pure acoustic bass is very quiet. This is true of most low I've tried. To make an audible bass "unplug" it takes a jumbo body style like Tacoma.
In electro we get a good sound quickly. The setting of the preamp is simple and effective.
The rose can accommodate a rubber stopper style "feedback buster" (standard diameter) handy in small rooms where you play almost sitting on his amp.

SOUNDS

It is ideally suited to the style of music from a trio "sound" soft jazz blues-rock.
For the effects a little chorus and reverb.
I used this bass on the amp: Acoustic Image, Aguilar, Gallien Krueger (sounds great on the GK).
The sound is round and warm and the "shape" can give a good depth. The assembly of DR strings is highly recommended (it is a revelation).
The strings sound equally, if only a little "plop" but this is the case for many acoustic 5 string bass (to believe that the piezo are unable to capture these low frequencies).

OVERALL OPINION

I have been using 1 or 2 years. I use it at least since the purchase of a Tacoma.
What I like least is the most important action of acoustic basses but this is a general remark.
I've tried many and this Ibanez bass stands up very well especially in relation to Breedlove, Michael Kelly, Ovation (made in Korea) that are much more expensive.
As usual with Ibanez on price / quality ratio is excellent and we get to a tight budget, an instrument of good quality and above all playable.
I would do without a doubt this purchase.
