« good for all music »

Published on 11/08/11 at 22:26
I have played many different styles of music over the years including rock, metal, country, and jazz. The Rebel K60AM is a classic vintage amp that can do them all! I also own a Fender Twin Reverb and several effects. My problem was trying to get good tones while recording without having to crank it up. When the neighbors in the next condo began beating on the wall, I knew it was time to get a better suited amp.

UTILIZATION

I spent several hours playing with all the different settings and tones, excited about all this little amp could do. While there is a learning curve, I would have to say that it was still far easier to find the tone I wanted on the Spider IV than with my other setup. Even after a few weeks, I still really haven't used all the features the amp has because there are so many to choose from it takes a while to get through them all.

SOUNDS

Pros: huge variety of quality tones, loud for its size (the 75 can keep up with a drum kit), fun to experiment with, great home studio recording amp, controls are well configured, solid optional footswitch (I got the FBV Express), well priced for its capabilities
Cons: These are really very minor things. Changing the channels changes the volume. The lower end of the master knob is overly sensitive. The reverb on the amp is not as good as the other effects (keep in mind I have been playing on a Twin Reverb).

OVERALL OPINION

All in all, for the price, the Rebel K60AM is a terrific amp, and opens up all kinds of tones that I never would have been able to get before. With a ton of features and it being a vintage amp always is great, I love vintage gear and this exceeds my expectations. I recommend this to anyone on an electric guitar.
