« Sceptre S8 breathtaking! »
Published on 11/28/13 at 04:05I had so far a pair of FOSTEX PM2 MKII. They are very good monitors but have a defect that eventually becomes painful to know:
- Breath "zero" (no input signal)
- Not at all shielded against interference (horrible when a mobile phone is nearby).
I wanted to replace my FOSTEX not have these flaws and I fell on the Sceptre S8 which immediately attracted me to share price, features and innovative overcharged.
SOUNDS
The sound is very faithful Verily, the stereo image is more accurate than my old FOSTEX.
The frequency curve level, they go down to 38Hz depending on the manufacturer and what I can confirm is that they actually go down lower than my old FOSTEX. Serious are returned is accurate.
OVERALL OPINION
I ais past two days I've spent 8 hours mix with them. Listening is not at all tiring in the long run.
What is most disconcerting is the ease with which each setting is done on a mix (EQ, Pan, Volume, Comp, effect ..). As soon as you touch an EQ for example, this means on and so very accurate.
I had Alesis M1 then FOSTEX PM2 and now the S8. Frankly I think the hardware arrived exactly meet my needs / price.
My future mix should find more balanced.
I hesitated before buying them hoping to find reviews on the internet but finally I trusted the information PRESONUS and would do without hesitation choice.
The S8 has no knob to "Volume" but a knob for adjusting the input signal level before tackling the amplification part, even to zero the signal passes. In fact it allows to properly balance the audio channel from the source to the issuance and make sure to get the signal / noise ratio the lowest.
I have calibrated with the K-20-Bob Katz method).
