This vintage has 8 mono tracks (so you can put 4 stereo) line or microphone jack or XLR connection with insertion and out (to connect recorder). Atenuateur Each track has a 30-db, a gain entrance to the line and for the microphone, a 3-band EQ (the medium and the more serious possesses a gain to boost the frequency chosen, great for boosting the snare, bass drum ... also owns the 2 to external effects, a knob Balance , a mute, a pfl, a fader 100 mm yes sir!
this console has 6 meter having very precise very readable with an LED of each peak, can see the input level of output for each track and the master etc. ..
there are 4 buses with volume control and balance, fader, connections for buses are jack, RCA stereo output or xlr.on chooses or mono, rca connections, jack or xlr.
the Master has left for 2 to external effects.
level connections are all what he faut.tres complete.
Version B has the phantom power and more.

UTILIZATION

For a professional setup is classic, pro, the knob separated at distances correct, then a young budding normal.pour like me at first I'm scratching my head a little but after it goes, I've never had a manual.
all is available.

SOUNDS

This console is transparent but not 100%, it brings a slight warmth to the sound, very nice (it reminds me of the motown era), the breath? J have decided to put the tracks and volume without thoroughly monitor source and the amp background to notice that he has a slight breath but never recorded good day so ... when silence is the sound or even a solo voice j hear no breath.
as J have already said above the 3-band equalizer possesses gains on midrange and bass (it turns a dry box in a box much fat, Farting, kicks gaining loud, which makes me rap: too happy, j I never needed equalizer 31 bands ....

OVERALL OPINION

I have the past 2 years, jl did come from usa, what I love about this wide console: robustness, quality of components (sliders, knobs, given meter), the sound of course the leather rim where j supports my elbow watching the swings of soft lighting al meters seen on the sides the sides were compressed wood, I have the swing and replace it with real wood, Bondex, then lacquered, too handsome! before J had a mackie VLZ 12 (a toy next to this work, 2 years after J had crunches, music n not want power, no prizes!)
the tascam M308 was costing between 3000 and 4000 dollars USA in the 80s, has now second hand up 500 euros j is that it is worth the cost, one day there will be more ....
The downside: 8-track MONO normal for the era and even today most are like that, I'll have STEREO s favorite, but hey, I mix in the beginning into 8 mono, then when come the day when I swing my sounds on the pc, j recorded one track in stereo so c is not the sea to drink.
right now I m in spite separates me because I'm tired of the pc that oar, plant, bug, virus, etc. etc. PRGS conflict rrraaaa!! , So j am passing a akai DSP24 who does everything to keep the tascam M308 he'll have had to buy another rack effects, another of equalization, another compressor, a multi-rack etc ... or if not buy: a Macintosh (parried that it crashes or almost never)
PORTFOLIO see my al time, yes I would do that this choice rather buy a new toy full of flimsy plastic dear to his cold dish bland ....
for what can and want to build a home studio al vintage old way I highly recommend this console (to use in one room has subdued lighting, top)
