It's almost the same as the M512 with only 2 to instead of 4.
It is a handy console into a home studio, a very complete routing.
8 buses for multitrack recording. Its EQ and preamp sound very good, she emissions for mixing and recording, I refer the 8 subgroups on a Tascam FW1082 logic for the master of audio.
UTILIZATION
For the config is from analog so no problem once we understand routing.
For the manual is in English but with some evening to try routing it's OK (it should still may know a kind of bike). The diagram includes all doc in case of breakdown or recapage.
SOUNDS
A bit of breath but nothing nasty, with enough gain is inaudible. Again it is vintage and at least put in a € 10 000 Amek, Neve or other Rolls Royce 70's were always a bit of breath.
The EQ is very musical and semi-parametric, therefore we have fun! Very effective on drums and bass, a potato caravan, I love it!
OVERALL OPINION
I use it for 2 months. I sold it for an M520 which is the same with 20 tracks instead of 12.
It's the right time of the Tascam analog, nothing to do with the first generation M2600 gives too much hiss or M2600 MKII a little too flat (I'm not talking about their chest), which still remains a very good reference for studio amateur or semi pro.
I like the M512 board and 520 which are equivalent to the sound. And for the old kiff I like Views meter needle, it has a very good mouth.
Only small default: the RCA connectors with a patch but it goes unnoticed.
I would do this choice for a small home studio, I spend the same and bigger so I appreciate, of course.
