Tape recorder bought and read archive old bands 1/4 ".
Always work properly, belt changed there ten years.
Intuitive to use, 3 speeds of travel 4,75 / 9,5 / 19 cm / sec ... Unfortunately no 38 cm / sec, but this is not so common.
Mine is black version, the more modern look.
It's nice to listen to tape memories, especially as the sound is very good (19 cm / sec) with low background noise.
Pros: sound, reliability and ease of use.
The -: no 39 cm / sec, size (normal for a reel to reel) and not possible to put larger coils / plates

For me, the TC-399 is a marvel of musicality and simplicity. It really fits my needs mlomane.
I want to keep but I have a problem with fast forward the tape and drop on channel 2-3. I'll try to (do) will repair.
I also like its design ... still clean
I had other devices: Uher, Aka Teac, Philips ... I would have liked as a Revox (I even t in Switzerland because he praised the era such hardware!) ... But the price, ae.
