- I use these boxes for more than 6 months with a line array Electrovoice XLE181.
Characteristics (source: website ElectroVoice)
- Frequency Response (-3dB) -> 52 - 100 Hz
- Frequency Response (-10dB) -> 42 - 100 Hz
- Max. SPL / 1m (calc) -> 136 dB
- System Power Handling (continuous / program / peak) -> 1000/2000/4000 Watts
- LF Transducer -> DVX3120
- Nominal Impedance (Passive) -> 4 Ohm
- What is significant is their relatively low weight and small footprint.
- I tried other boxes before: D & B, alternative models ElectroVoice, LA, JBL ...
Now on to sound quality:
I've always said that systems were difficult to calibrate Electrovoice because demanding. They have the defects of their qualities: a little gaudy but not soft. In short, once rigged a system Electrovoice it must send the pie ...
I spent hours on my system and I have not been entirely satisfactory. Speaking of the XS212, I find them in the soft bottom, lack of precision. This is not surprising because they do not descend low enough. At the micro measurement, but rather a 50/60Hz they render. In fact, they behave like a low-medium, not really as a subwoofer. They do not provide the necessary complement that my system needs. Probably adapted to the small config, they find themselves lost in a room configuration 500/1000 type places. Or should I double or triple their number??
A colleague was able to listen XS312 (I have not yet found their reference), and there is something else it seems. This is not the same price either!
The quality is average price, 2000 € for a box is not very expensive, but if he does half the job is not terrible.
I put 5 because it's still good material, well done, well produced. But it's hard to meet my expectations.
PS: If somebody managed to get it right I'm interested in any information!
