This is an analog fuzz pedal, very original (not at all the kind Big Muff).
Include a volume (outpout), a ketone (EQ), a waveform (pinch) and a gain (Wool).
The decor is done by hand (a little fragile).

USE

It can not be simpler, turn the knobs, listen the result and that's it.

SOUND QUALITY

Keep in mind that the effect is very original. The pedal can be used with a low (of course), but also a guitar.
The quality is undeniable and expected for this type of high-end matétiel.

NOTICE GLOBAL

I use it for 6 months. This effect may seem confusing at first because very original, but it is necessary to learn to control it. A good noise gate is essential. Do not forget that this is a high-end pedal and therefore it really sounds as a head or preamp of equivalent quality. Careful equalization should be considered to master the animal.
The effect is not only what you can hear in Muse (Hysteria) because their bass player uses a very distinctive setting. It is also possible to obtain a very original distortion by adjusting the EQ, Wool and especially the Pinch.
Contrary to what is stated in the previous opinion, there is no loss in level lorsue it engages the pedal.

UTILIZATION

Zvex effects pedal company has really taken a large portion of the pedal boutique market in on recent years. They've built some of the most highly used and easily recognizable overdrive and effects pedals on the market. One of their most prized in recognizable looks is there handpainted casings on their pedals. The cost is much at their higher price than other pedals because is the hand-painted graphics that are on top of the case. Many of their most commonly use pedals they will offer a version that is cheaper with a non-painted case. This is one of those pedals that has the painted case which has a larger more expensive price attached to it.

UTILIZATION


This pedal has very few features. You have an output control knob, an EQ control knob, pinch control knob, as well as a wool control knob. This is basically a fuzz pedal that has a few more bells and whistles than your average big Muff type size control panel. Overall it doesn't have a load of versatility but it does have a pretty cool sound attached.

SOUND QUALITY


If you like the fuzz pedals on this is a pretty cool sound to get with your bass guitar. If you need that thick saturated wooly fuzz tone this will be a good place to start. However, the price of this pedal is so astronomical I cannot recommend anyone buying the unit. To charge $360 for this pedal is a little bit outrageous, simply because it hasn't painted case and the company has a recognizable name. The tone is good but not for the price.


OVERALL OPINION


Like I said before the pedals are right around $350 new. That is a big steep price for simply one effect coming from a pedal. I probably would not recommend this to anyone simply because it is so expensive and for just getting a simple fuzz tone then there's a lot of cheaper and effective pedals out there on the market than this one.

Basically this is a monstrous hand wired fuzz pedal. I have owned 2 and built 3 or 4 so I'm pretty familair with it and I'm a big fan of the pedal. I'm a big fan of crazy fuzzes and this might be my favorite. THe EQ and output knobs are pretty self explanatory but the EQ is more like a low shelf filter. The wool knob is essentially the gain knob, though it reacts different. And technically the pich knob is a waveform control. It basically voices the fuzz style. It's a simple design for the most part and if you look at the insides you will notice the simple wiring. No wonder this pedal can last almost forever on a battery.

UTILIZATION

This was actually designed for bass, and I have no doubt it works great for that, but I use it for guitar leads that I want to sound well...unique? This is a deceptively simplistic pedal that you can get a lot of use out of if you just mess with the knobs a lot.

SOUND QUALITY

You can do a lot with the mammoth. Turn up the eq and pinch knob and you have your more vintage fuzz hendrix fuzzface sounds. It's actually a really mildly flavored fuzz at these settings, and a nice one at that. However this is the wooly mammoth, and I tend to use the more insane settings. If you lower the EQ and pinch, and pump up the wool knob, you will get a seriously colossal fuzz wall. Leads are massive and sound like they could tear through a someone's face. This is the pedal I turn on for what I call "me time."

OVERALL OPINION

I have owned a lot of insane fuzz pedals during my collectors phases. This is one of the few I don't think I can keep out of my pedalboard. Sometimes I might try a different one for kicks, but usually I come back to the mammoth. I highly recommend it.

This saturates the pedal sound.
it has a particular effect nothing to do with an overdrive or distortion bass.

When it switches on the pedal you lose enormously in volume, the more a huge blast that comes out of the amp. if you go up the volume of the pedal (about a half) is a disaster: a big feedback, a huge blast, but the worst is that we hear you (I speak on stage). of another instrument that goes you can stop playing it the same thing we hear you.

OVERALL OPINION

It would be a pedal in the studio to record That a pedal to the scene. I bought it last July and I've already sold it's madness on stage and repeating '! I spent most my time running to my amp's play!! I think the price really too expensive for what it is .... It could have been if there was not that big breath and if it was more power ....

What has changed since three years?
The pedals are always manufactured hand and hand painted Zvex in the United States, Fully analog, dedicates the bass but also used with a guitar. Always the same CONTRL volume equalizer (mdiums mainly), Pinch (waveform) and Wool (roughly, the gain).
The power supply is no longer done only via a 9V battery, with a consumption trsrduite certainly, but also through industry. Also has an LED adds tmoin activation of the effect. A switch on / bypass, and that's it.

As usual, quality manufacturing and finishing irrprochable. Jewel box and red flag closed by the pedals ds fantasies welcome. It's original.

Mine is a models only from NAMM in January 2009. What does not change the outside of the bte dcoration.

UTILIZATION

Simple. No need to book. It should be read even when, because it is drle.
Volume = volume of output of the effect, Wool = gain = Pinch waveform of fuzz and EQ = Tone-on mdiums serious.

I personally use the pedals with a guitar. No concern for Difference in volume or breath. I must say that I am used to Zvex pedals, I am a true believer.

SOUND QUALITY

For those unaware, Zack Vex offers quite atypical effects from a vintage design.
With a guitar, we get by grazing and a fuzz quite dirty. The pinch and Tone can change the color and dynamics of the effect: more and more velvety agressivit more precision or more "embedding" of sound. The term particulirement Woolly Mammoth is well chosen.

So of sr, the pedals and it's better breath prvoir derrire a noise gate. Like all vintage fuzz. In part-cons, what heat, what characters.
The rest of the trs is typ typ Zvex say here: Sound is your exact part. Do not expect to have fuzz sound of everyone.

OVERALL OPINION

In fact, I post this notice to up the overall rating of the pedals that I love.
But I am aware that the Zvex pedals are particulires trs. Some will 0 / 10 10/10 and other: either love or you dtest.
Remains the original and the quality of all the Zvex pedals.
So if your adventurous you let yourself be guided by a Zvex pedals, she is the conductor. on the other hand, if you like "matriser" your sound, it does not please you at all.

A very special fuzz: round, mushy. ... It sounds terrible but it can not appeal. Anyway I love, I tried it in a store, I thought not out.

Very good stuff but very typical. With AC was an inimitable rangé.Dommage but she eats a lot basses.Je recommends the use of a MIXER / BLENDER: dry / humid.

Big big downside price ... 350 euros ... pfff .. !
