Hughes & Kettner QC 421

This is one of those amps that you wish they would have never stopped making. This is the QC 412 which is a stallar bass amp for combo players and smaller gigs. This is this the kind of amp that makes you want to join a band and rock out. If you are a bass player and you have never heard of Huges and Kettenr than there is a reason for that.

Hughes and Kettner have never really branched out in the bass world as far as getting bass guys to join there squad. They have really set their attention and sights on the guitars players. They have some famous guys such as Tommy Thayer and Alex Lifeson who have signature guitar amps from Hughes and Kettner but you don't hear to much about the bass world. That is a shame because their bass stuff is very good.

SOUNDS

This amp has the same extra features as the 412 but just with an extra speaker. You get twice the air push bu the exact same voicing and feel. This amp has a nice DuraDome Neodymium speaker inside. The tone is nice and punchy and gets gnarly growl tone that is suitable for crunch tones in your music. The tone is a great bass tone. You have a saturation overdrive control knob that allows you to drive your tone even more than simple bass clean tone. The amp also has a great serial effects loop for allowing you to incorporate your favorite effects pedals or rack units into your sound. This is one fine bass amp and very versatile amp as well. It also has a balanced line out for going straight into a house pa system or mixer or even going direct when in a recording session.

OVERALL OPINION

These amps have been discontinued for some time now. These amps vary between wattage and speaker size. I have no idea what these are going for on the used market I have seen the 310 version for around $300 so I can only assume that this one would fetch a little more than that. It is a great amp for those needing a good practice bass amp or a convenient combo to go direct with. If you can score one of these on the used market for a decent rice for around $300 it is worth the purchase.

it is a hybrid because it is composed of a prampli made in Hugh and Kettner with that which they call the "touch tube circuit" which is designed and protected for all rsister a saturation.l amp Power is also a hybrid because it is a transistor amplifier that uses a true lampe.la dlivr power 400Watts RMS is enough to make a few prs UNTIL znith all rooms. Full connectivity is composed of two inputs: passive and BTAC, a tuner output out to intercept the signal before the prampli, an effects loop, a headphone output, a LINE OUT which is upstream of the power amplifier, two speaker outputs supplmentaires (one that cuts the signal to the combo of HP and others do not) and finally a plug for pdalier (not included) which allows slctionner fonstion the punch and the effects loop.
there is no effect. The rglages are simple knob gain a slice qualizer 4 (bass, low mid, high mid and treble presence) a saturation knob for the lamp and a volume.

UTILIZATION

The configuration is very simple. The qualizer is especially relevant trs trs effective. This gives a number of different sound that suits me and so can many jou duffrent style (from jazz to heavy rock to the house mm!)

the manual is one of the most comprehensive manual that I never had in my hands. Everything is very well xpliqu. Each knob has a desription and types are rglages mm donnsa the end (there are trs trs useful and well chosen)

I play mostly with a well rounded and deep. I thought it could not give me a well rounded so I wanted the same model but the ac 15 hp out of it n'tait not available so I rsigner to 2 of 12 hp. To my surprise I get a good russi trs is the type so dear to me and you just get well mm slamming typical slap

OVERALL OPINION

I have now for four months. lach it my once for no apparent reason the fan turning but c'tais while so I sent in sav. The seller did not believe me the first c't Hugh and Kettner amp that was his. In one week the amp m'tai Income perfect state of operation (a fuse had failed to burn it n'on tell me why). Since he never leaves me. I was part of a small group that needs to dplacer trs often so I needed an amp five feet. I needed a compromise between power / legeretqualit in bttn so I looked. I first east to I test the Hartke 350w head of LE4 and * 12. the sound I did not like too cold c'tai mm lamp set up c'tais barely warm. and most did not meet its transport box for ac has a baffle 30 a kilo and a head 15 is not to say that it is manageable trs. So I walked the streets magazines and the Internet in search of my sheep gntiquement perfect. I test a dozen of the Hartke amp Peavy to go through Ampeg or Gallien Kruger I could not find what I needed. one day by going to my dealer prfr he shows me this big bb's left when pushing mm small for its power and lightweight surtt which is great because I had never seen his amps 400w that PSE seulemnt 29kg. Stack what I needed, I bought. I test. To push it I'll see you type my drummer trs much stronger I push the amp a 6 / 10 (its lighter trs trs trs dja hard I promise) and a moment drummer looks at me I turn around and what I see? my amp who walks alone in the room. It's as quiet as dplacais great. weight silent became his weakness. having said that I quickly bought a piece of carpet and since I have more problem.

I recognize that it is not giving I bought 1450 euros so that's the price of an 8 * 12 and a Hartke 350w head of the same brand but it is not good mm sound at all, and then ultimately this is xactemnt ke I wanted a good compromise in all except the sound and I really like it. yes I do it again this election but I will look at mark bass coming out a new combo 450w I believe in mm ides that this amp but it just came out APRS I bought mine
