Trace Elliot 712 SMC

Transistor amplifier, 130W or 150 with an additional, made in England in the mid-90's 8 ohms speaker.
Passive and active inputs, effects loop, DI, 2 speaker outputs.
Settings: the famous pre-shape Trace Elliot 7 Band EQ and compressor 2 bands, all activated or not by simple switches.
In short, there is everything you need and then some.

UTILIZATION

No manual but it is not complicated.
The sound is good no matter what.

SOUNDS

Amp sounds modern.
Perfect complement to my head George.
The sound is clear, but not mushy "full".
Used with 5 strings only, it has no desire to leave if the matter if there is no abuse of the input gain.
I use the Pre-Shape always on. A true grain Trace Elliot is obtained. I then use the eq to compensate for the sound of the room

OVERALL OPINION

I have recently but I know the beast since I started low on the same.
I have not had a lot of combos (I'm head and cabinet!).
Compared to CMD121 Markbass CMD151 and I've had there is no picture: Trace is less powerful but much more musical! The sound is less flat, fuller, harmonics are there. It's simple: despite its lower power I hear better in a group. And it is still powerful enough for even the scene.
It is also heavier (25kg) but I go around the class D amplifiers and other light baffles and no I like ...
In short, flawless quality, great sound, unmatched reliability, I love Trace Elliot!

UTILIZATION

Very simple configuration, low basic combo, though full.

SOUNDS

The sound is perfect, beautiful grain typically Trace Elliot, the mid pre-shape is perfect and adds a more indniable when playing slap (for example).
The HP holds up but a little loose on a 5 string with If in the grave ... The 12 "has its limits. But the combo should all styles, the compressor is quiet and trs does its job without compressing indsirables attacks.

OVERALL OPINION

I used 4-5 years, now I do not play bass, but this amp I was delighted, it has excellent sound, well suited for RPTES, and with a good firm extension can easily make small concerts. MODEL currently be replaced by the 712 normal trslgrement diffrent, but the configuration is the same and also the amplification. Obviously you pay a little mark, but also with the quality, this amp cost me nine in the 700-750 euros.

Simple config:

1 compressor
not adjusting bass / treble
For sound, it just fumbles despite the apparent ease, but whatever the setting, the net is made, without burrs.

SOUNDS

Ideally suited to my current style, Afro-jazz.
Overall, it takes that big sound. No real resources for crystalline highs, but that's not what I asked.
I play a squier classic vibe, Jazzbass passive, no effect superimposed.

The pre-shape works wonders: the bass is punchy, treble clear and aggressive. The compressor is also effective, but I have not been sufficiently tamed.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for almost a year now. I tried other amps, mostly Hartke, Ampeg and Fender again in studios (including the Trace Elliot 715, excellent, cabinet 15 inches).
I flashed on the Trace Elliot and I have decided to buy one.

I especially like the type, coarse, net of all frequencies. In addition, it looks to be the rugged, indestructible. So for a time, a great value.

This choice I would do without hesitation.
