« 2x10 "and 1x15 T HiFi" sub HiFi, all "high fidelity" ultimate! »
Published on 07/22/14 at 06:40ATTENTION: This review is crossed with that of 1X15 sub HiFi from the same brand.
The opinion is therefore that of the whole.
I was looking for my bass amplification system that is capable of reproducing the best all frequencies with the same dynamic.
I play a lot on 6-string bass and strings in 4 granted. So I needed a system capable of reproducing itself very low frequencies while maintaining the slamming, clarity and a lot of dynamism.
As I also love technology lamps so I went across Chillbass 100 s and 2X10 couple "T/1x15" Sub of the HiFi set.
Features:
Speakers:
woofer (1X15 sub): neodymium Celestion NTR
2x10: 18 sound 10NW650
Tweeter: Celestion CDX1-1445 + horn H1-7050 "No bell"
Passive Crossover Version: Eminence PX2 1.6K - 4 inputs (jack and Speakon) and tweeter attenuator.
Housing: 13-ply poplar, m. 18 mm
Handles: Recessed steel (2)
Coins plastic protections.
Grid lacquered black metal protection
Impedance: 8 ohm
2x10 "T
RMS Power: 600W
Impedance: 8 ohms
Frequency: 50/20000 hz
Sensitivity: 103 dB/1W/1m
Weight: 18kg
1x15 "Sub
Power: 400W
Impedance: 8 ohms
Frequencies 30/250/3000Htz
Sensitivity: 105 dB/1W/1m
Weight: 17kg
This system allows the recovery of a huge frequency range!
SOUNDS
2x10 couple (or 4x10) with a 15 is common, but this set is very different.
This stuff is Hifi, which means high fidelity. Ie it will return the best sound you send the speakers.
Rendering is linear. Nevertheless, it will restore the character of the sound sent into the enclosure.
This is the stuff that will fit the instrument and head amp, but the speaker will not bring either character.
In fact, after several months of use, it must still slightly qualify everything.
If you want a vintage sound, theoretically, by placing a vintage and head down it will sound perfectly vintage. Yes this is the case, except that the design of the speakers and rendering hp is modern, ie you have the sound, but not the "flaws" that make the vintage sound.
This is why I prefer to see this all together as a modern but very respectful of all that is pre pregnant.
The second important point of this set is the use of 1x15Sub.
Unlike other sets using the 15 sub, this one is equipped with a filter that allows you to use the HP only on the range of 30/250 hz.
Basically it sends the bottom.
This is very useful because it avoids conflicts between certain frequencies that would be returned by the 10 "and 15" at the same time but with a slightly different sound.
The 15 "is only reinforcing the bottom there or 2x10 begins to weaken and lose volume.
However, we can use the 15 "over its entire frequency range, it still works but the sound is different. Following is a history of preference.
For 2x10T only:
Alone, I find it lacks clearly down to the use of a serious B. But to use a 4c, it is clear and very, very dynamic!
I find the tweeter a bit aggressive, but at least we know it's there. Personally I use set to half or cut when I want a more vintage sound.
For 1X15 "sub alone:
Of course you need to disable the filter!
The sound is very serious is less dynamic than the 2x10. "It may be useful only for certain styles but I personally find it more appropriate to complement the 2x10".
The reason is that I learned that cabinet "fits" and that is designed to send very low frequencies (around 20/30 hz).
A test! But it is obvious that if you want to use a single 15 HiFi it is better to turn to 1x15 "with HiFi tweeter (which is designed and tuned differently).
OVERALL OPINION
It is therefore an extremely versatile set!
I mentioned earlier the 6-string bass is in my opinion one of the best ways to boost the bass while having a uniform made especially defined for all strings.
These speakers have a definition and a really extra dynamism.
I mentioned earlier qualify vintage use. It is obvious that if you want to play that vintage, take the Chillbass series that is made for it. But if you want excellent fidelity and speakers that reproduce perfectly all that their sends, this set is for you!
I speak that low because I'm a bass player, but any amplified instrument works on this set (100 s on the head too).
So I tried a jazz guitar and the record is very good! (By 15 against the "sub is not necessary).
Finally, this stuff is made in France!
Everything is made by Fred, a passionate craftsman who works in Pau.
Very good contact with him, I asked a lot of questions and he always answered me!
The finish and build quality is top notch and the design is really terrible!
Be careful though to Tolex is very fragile.
In short, I advise everyone to try!
