All user reviews for the D'Addario XL Pro Steels Wound Bass 4-String

These are the first strings that I set when I went in drop B on my 4 strings.

For the price they are correct, but the new sound is too bright, which makes the treble screaming.
However the brightness fades very quickly and this is the time it sounded better, but they quickly become dull ...
The touch is nice, not too rough or too slick, just enough.
These strings are rather cheap, but they age quickly and badly, so starting the economy is not so obvious ...

According to this model, I went to Ernie Ball, we find similar features, but the brightness is not excessive and life is better, which in my opinion justify the price difference.

For someone who has little and not too demanding it can be an interesting option.


I am now past the Pyramid (Low B Tuning) and I think I found my happiness.

For how long have you been using it?
This is my first game of this model strings and it leaves me at the moment a very good impression. I installed three weeks ago and usually other brands do not last very long (I sweat bcp hands) except for black beauty DR.

What thing do you like most/least about it?
most:
snapping sound (more than the D'Addario classical)
the grunting sound
soul hexagonal provides greater string tension / classical strings with the round especially for the souls So serious.

minimum:
nothing for now

Did you try many other models before getting this one?
I tried many things: DR low riders and black beauty, d'addario classic Fender (yuck), skulls, ...

What is your opinion about the value for the price?
I find them at the same price as the D'Addario classical on the net so very good value for money

For now, they do not seem to lose their shine too fast.

Knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice?
Yes, I think I will redeem it.
