Best value: Correct
Rotosound SM66 Swing Bass 40-100
Historically, from my first bass and I will not change!
I use the 40-100 on my G & L JB2 (fretless epoxy), 35-90 in Q4 on my Steinberger (Newburgh USA), and 45-105 on my Jazz Bass (Homemade).
The SM66 also equipped with all other bass I've owned and sold in the past.
I tried several other brands but none have satisfied me as much as the Rotosound, yet over 20 years "what I lost as dough" to try other brands eventually were disappointing me. (Possibly Elixir Nanoweb 45-105 Ernie Ball EB2835 and are very attractive, I highly recommended to those who like the softer strings with less mids).
You want a sound to Pastorius, John Entwistle, Sting, John Deacon, etc etc its powerful, manly, hot, direct, well-rounded, sexy mediums wish? Provided that you do not mind a few blocks to the fingers, Rotosound are for you!

It is true they are rappers at first, but it fades quickly and the more you play the more the rope becomes more comfortable playing! Basically there as a compulsory period of lapping to get the maximum satisfaction, but after that slides alone and whatever the shooting.
I keep my "SM66" + - 6 months before they lose their brightness (too worn once I boil them in water with vinegar and I have gained a few weeks), with some brands to double the price, my strings were dead after 1 month!

We love, we love it, eventually all tastes are in nature! But Rotosound proven over several decades, they are a benchmark!
This is not "ready" their qualities deserve by killing a few fingers a few hours, but after that only pure happiness! all for a very reasonable price (+ - 20 to 25 €).
