2014 will be a busy year for the McDSP team who, along with the launching of 3 compression plug-ins for Reason, announces the support of the Avid S3L.

For Reason 6.5 and 7, McDSP released at the Propellerhead online store three compression Rack Extensions, available individually for 39€ or bundled for 99€.

The FRG-4RE is a “Feed-Forward Reactive Gain” compressor designed for modern processing, with separate controls for attack and release, a wide compression ratio ranging from 1:1 to 20:1, a threshold knob from -48 to 0 and an output gain. A VU-meter allows for monitoring the input and output level as well as gain reduction. McDSP adds that this compressor is ideal for drum processing, but you can also use it on synth, piano or guitar.

The second compressor in RE format is the Moo Tube, a software emulation of a modern hardware tube compressor designed for those who want to warm or beef up their sound. You can adjust the threshold, attack and output gain, and also get a Recovery knob, but the GUI doesn’t offer any numeric reference here, just “impressions” (min-max, fast-slow). A VU-meter is also present for input, output and gain reduction monitoring.

Last, the C670 is based on a vintage compressor modeling with a few additions from McDSP who describes it as flexible. It can therefore be applied to master busses, groups of instruments or individual tracks. The GUI offers three knobs for threshold, time constant and output gain, as well as a VU-Meter with switchable input, output and gain reduction levels.

The three Rack Extensions are available now separately or bundled at shop.propellerheads.se

The second news, which will be detailed on January 23rd at the Winter NAMM Show 2014, is the future compatibility of the AAX DSP plug-ins with the new Avid S3L Live Console. This update will be free for v5 users.

Last, NAMM visitors will discover the new AAX plug-ins, including the AE400 Active EQ, 6020 Ultimate EQ and SPC2000, at booth 6405, Hall A in Anaheim.
