«  Great concept! ergonomics nice! »

Published on 05/28/12 at 08:35
Bank of 150 patches sounds including rhythm patterns and kits for some really nice people.
Always a game on the touch pad but Kaossilator2 also takes a second surface touch - / + for all other orders (choice of patches, arpeggios, tempo settings menu and set up .... etc.)
The connector has changed from the K01 and the RCA Out were abandoned in favor of a single output headphone jack 3.5 mm. There is also at his side a 3.5mm jack input for microphone Assembled No MIDI possible. All sockets are grouped above the K02 (much more convenient and less embarrassing than the headphone jack in the box below the K01!)
Battery life: 5 hours with NIMH

UTILIZATION

The KASSILATOR 2 is much more ergonomic than was his predecessor. OLED screen displays end numbers legibly good information (name of the patch, scale, materialization of an arpeggio, no loops ... etc.)
Touch the slider to choose quickly between patches of other sounds. She is very sensitive (almost too) and allows for scrolling fast and slow selection and all other settings.

The main advantages of the new K02 are in my opinion:
Two loops simultaneously possible (not max 8)
possibilities for the Protection of loops on microSD
recording capabilities of a'' live'' MASTER played on the same SD card
Built-in microphone for voice sampler

SOUND QUALITY

Sounds are taken over much of K01mais there are new. 150 sounds (instead of 100) and in all registers. Some are very interesting ... others less so.
Kits and rhythmic drum patterns have been improved. They are more realistic and very well done overall. It also has the same type of percussion Conga ... and very nice acoustic!
No big changes for the game on the touch pad, so ... a few additional types of scale and a game on such diverse rhythmic patterns Really cool! As rhythmic possibilities!
There's a really nice synth pad (No. 79) and other Lead or chord sounds great (66-71-08-10-15)
Still a lot of bass sounds and some FX mode (noise filter, resonnance ...)
Overall the sounds of K02 are very well done.

Experience the difference with this is against the possibility of two simultaneous loops. One for the arpeggio, one for rhythm, for example. This is great, and we alternate rhythmic arpeggios, going from one to another, we change the loop 2 while running an ... etc ... etc ....
Endless possibilities with respect to K01 where sounds could only add a single loop. In fact at no manipulation to change to 16 steps, it will be a maximum of 8 max no matter what.

Here are some improvisations:

Backup to micro SD is a real improvement as not to lose its power loops and replay them at another time. One can also record and also its composition MASTER reproduce. Awesome and completely independent on the go. Really great!

The capture function with its built-in microphone is very useful to sample a voice in his loop. Biensur can make successive layers. It makes pretty good but it will work with headphones ...

OVERALL OPINION

The KAOSSILATOR 2 is an ideal instrument for portable music. Battery powered, it can spend some quality time in composing music with electro fun. The concept is simply brilliant!
Beware however, as the K01, it is capable of good and bad! The less inspired will only see the beeping of gloubiboulga.
But the top will musicos loops endlessly chained to the end of the night ...
