Simon & Patrick 6 Mahogany Cedar

Guitar acoustic dreadnought shape and trademark Simon & Patrick S & P 6 model, a Canadian so guitar.
I have since 2001, bought new in about 400 € I think ... At the time, the brand seemed less known than now, and the range (since revised) less extensive. I also do not know what would be the equivalent current model of this series, or if the mark was already under the umbrella of Godin at the time, but I do not think ... to be confirmed ...

Climb original 12-53.
The satin varnish finish is very fine to let "breathe" guitar. So it makes the guitar a little more fragile and require you to take good care!

In short, the woods, but are really well chosen and the guitar light is very pretty and understated. A 9/10 then.

UTILIZATION

The handle is comfortable rather well. It fills the hand well without really unplayable like some folk whose sleeves are logs.
The frets are quite nice.
The lack of a cutaway (and the action a little high, but that it will rule ...) make access and clearance acute necessarily difficult, at the same time, it is a sound eh ...
However, the guitar is really light and it is significant.
In practice, only the mechanics seem a little below the rest. I feel that mine take a little less agreement at the beginning and are less accurate than before tuning, to see if a small check-up/entretien not necessary .. .
In addition, the original bridge had to be replaced by a custom real bone (for the sound is even better the shot) because the former has not aged force to be played.
I also think the Nut will soon be ...
8/10 for MECAS so that could be a little better and the quality of high and low frets.


SOUNDS

This is where it gets interesting!
Share lutherie guitar, the result is a "woody", great warmth and softness that puts more emphasis on the low end, midrange and bass, all without ever being too bassy, ​​deaf, stifled, draft or anything.
With it, you're ready for typically the good folk songs and more bluesy playing by the fireside! But its possibilities are much less reduced than that ...
The highs are still present, and have a small roundness and softness that go with the image we can make guitars Canadian. You will never have a metallic or aggressive with this guitar, and it is precisely why I love. The guitar fits very well in a mix with other acoustic, simply because the sound is not very common and it has a frequency register its own.
The guitar is very vibrant and fund projects wonderfully. The sustain is really very good.
I am repeatedly surprised to feel the guitar vibrate while I was just playing other instruments (though not strong) in the room. Whenever I played with other zicos with this guitar, I've always had very positive remarks about the sound that comes out (and I agree completely!).
Although I am not an expert (and that's an understatement!) The few times I've tried, I found that the sound was also very good for the game bottleneck.

Climb from 11-52 for a moment not playing too much more compared to electric I need a little more flexibility, but it will return to 12-53 as originally yet to recover more projection.

I've tried other models much more expensive brand at least as prestigious (Takamine, Ovation, Martin etc) and I never found the sound that attracted me immediately (apart from a Taylor electro acoustic which exceeded € 1,500 ... nothing to see price comparison level!). So much so that it's been a while since I thought to change it to make it electro-acoustic, but the fact that the operation is about seeing beyond the initial price of the guitar if you really want a very good chilled me a little. ..
Anyway, I put 10/10 for sound, because it really is fabulous and perfect as I like.

OVERALL OPINION

With this guitar that satisfies me since 2001, I am not about to change, and I think it will stay with me for so long veeeeeery I love the sound ...
If I do it again do it again exactly the same choice, or so I try to find exactly the same with the same wood but electro history to exploit it more convenient and regular game situation with ' other musicians and instruments.
The value for money of the time seems very very correct because the sound delivered by this guitar to violin neat, character and identity well marked.
I know strongly advise you to consider these Simon & Patrick guitars if you like authentic sounds and warm.
