Sirius Sound & Light
« Very disappointing, well below a Crown MA 2400 ... »
Published on 08/23/10 at 00:45I spotted these amps for a while. A brand with an excellent customer service, an amp very small, very lightweight and with a very important power announced ... After replacing my tops by RCF ART 712A for more power, less weight and small size, my idea was to save my back a little.
Hence the urge to try one in real good on Sub: Nexo LS1200. I compared with Crown Macro Tech 2400 which has over 10 years ... Well I was very disappointed by the Synq 3K6 ...
In saying that I test and compare these two amps, I thought we were going to tell me two things that I appear incomparable 2x1800W cons 2x800W into 4 ohms into 4 ohms. Here we have, as so aptly said Texel LS1200 500W by the Crown and more than 1000W with Synq.
Personally, with such a power difference, I expected to see at least Synq with a sound as powerful as the Crown. Yes, the damping is less important for Synq but I thought that by having double the power you'd have enough cash in reserve to achieve at least the same level.
We were very surprised. We first tried the Synq getting used to his sound. Then we tried the Crown with the same wiring and settings (2 heads ART 712A). We could not get ... The Crown has much more presence and roundness in the words of Texel. It's impressive the difference ... It was then said that the input sensitivity of the amplifiers was different and that Synq was not cranked. So we added the gain at the table. It was verified that the bottom was cut off on Synq. I set to be just below the clip is then ironed on the Crown ... Such incomparable.
I hesitated to sell my Crown to have something so powerful to see more lighter and the same price (I bought my Crown Used Price € 600 = nine of Synq). Now I'm on, I keep my Crown.
I wonder what it must be worth at tops, but on boxes is how to say "absent". I even think the RMX 2450 is more than I had before the fishing Synq 3K6 ...
Is it just is not explainable large damping factor of the Crown? How ironic is it ...
