Overwater says that the project debuted in 2006, when Carlos Henriquez (Lenny Kravitz, Whitney Houston, Willie Nelson, Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan to name a few) asked the luthier to create a versatile bass with which he could express his latin influences and “US” style. Overwater took the J Bass with a multi-laminated design, traditional headstock angle and rear-mounted active EQ, and the Latin Model was born.
The project has kept progressing and Overwater finally combined the elements from the Perception and J Series basses to create this new Hybrid J. It retains the multi-laminated design, neck joint and headstock angle from the Perception and the body profile and Overwater “noiseless” single coil pickups from the Contemporary J.
