I bought this guitar at Brents Music Palace. I got this because I wanted to play Songs from the band, KoRn. So I decided to do some research and I found out what kind they played. I payed about $1,100 for it. Evne though its a little expensive, its worth it.

What I like about is the style and feeling of it. It is though kind-of heavy, but its comfortable. My came with a whammy-bar which was pretty cool. I also like the Dimarzio Par 7's pick-ups. The distortion on this thing makes everything all so much better.

There's nothing really I don't like about his guitar.

The quality of this guitar is 5 out of 5. The construction of it is very awesome. I also like the Firespeak color.

Overall this is one awesome guitar! The pickups and distortion give it a whole aonther kind-of sound.

I bought this baby at the local music store Hermes Music. They did not have in stock, so I ordered it. I gave a payment of $100 bucks, and paid the rest when she got in. I paid a total of $1,000 dollars.

The guitar is built like a tank. The sustain through the body is emaculate and beautiful!! The mahogany construction on the body is rick and full. It is a bit heavy, but not uncomfortable!! The whole thing is factory-tuned one whole step down from the standard 7-string tuning. The low to high strings, A-D-G-C-F-A-D. That's really useful for when useing this type of tuning, the notes cut through like razors!! The U-bar is a sinch to use, very usefull when it comes to making your own quick little bends here and there. It also comes with a wammy-bar which is also awesome! The predominant thing I enjoy about this Guitar is the pickups, the Dimarzio Paf 7's. The sound that comes out of these baby's really attacks the senses and leaves you speakless!! The clean is bright and warm. The distortion is tight and aggressive!! oh, and let's not for get the tremolo system. It allows the bridge to be palmed to get tremolo effects without plaming the fine tuning!! Stays in tune like no other!!

There's really nothing that I don't like, except for the fact that it has one knob. The volume knob, I like haveing the other tone knob. I like to muffle my sound alittle to get more warmer sounds. But over all this guitar really suite's me very well.

The contruction on the K-7 is absolutely prestige!! Like I said, built like a tank. Everything is tight and made for aggresive playing!!

The K-7 is a beautiful instrument!! Its wood gives you SWEET sustain, its pickups make your notes as sharp as razors!! Its unique style is very audible!!

This guitar reminds me of the good old days. It was one of the first 7 strings I ever saw then played. Back when Korn was relevant they were ruling the world. To most metal guys at the time Korn had seemingly invented downtuning. This was one of the first Ibanez signature 7 strings and they pretty much got it right the first time. The basic guitar itself was great although the factory setup based on Korns music style was no so great. This guitar is basically a 7 string RG. One main difference is that the body is made out of mahogany which is a much better tone wood for lower tones. The neck is nice and thin and based off the Universe neck. The neck is free from inlays except for a K7 at the 12th fret. Later models had some dot stuff goign on. It has a locking nut up top and a tremolo bridge. From the factory these guitars came weight a weird U shaped tremolo bar. The one I demoed has a normal bar fitted to it. This example also had EMG pickups fitted in it. You will find most older Ibanez guitars have had their stock pickups thrown out unless it came with Dimarzios. The controls are super simple with just a volume and a 3 way.

UTILIZATION

I heard that back in the day these came with some pretty weird setups from the factory. I know they came tuned to A so I guess the action was changed to suit that. Years later im sure it will be pretty difficult to find an example that still has the stock setup. This one certainly didnt and it played great like every old Ibanez RG. The neck is super thin and easy to play for a 7 string. Lots of people get Ibanez guitars for the first 7 strings because they are so easy to play and make the transition easy.

SOUNDS

I am not really sure what pickups this guitar came with stock. I hope they were Dimarzios because it would be pretty sad if this guitar costing all it did when it was new came with no name Ibanez pickups. The EMG's in it now were dual 707. This is my preferred 7 string pickup set unless you are playing super low. These EMG's are like 7 string EMG 85s. They have a really thick tone that compliments the nature of the 7 string. If you are tuning super low they can get muddy and if you are I recommend the 81-7s or whatever the EMG 81 based 7 string pickup is. That pickup has a more high end voicing that lets you retain clarity when you are tuning super super low. For regular tunings the 707s give you a really thick sound with enough clarity for most every situation and style of heavy 7 string riffage.

OVERALL OPINION

Nowadays these guitars might be a bit of a novelty. There are tons of 7 strings on the market now. Back when this was new this was a really exotic guitar. You can find these guitars all over the place now because they made them for a long time. The mahogany body makes them a bit better than the normal Ibanez 7 string models but if you do not limit yourself to K7 models you have tons of options when it comes to 7 strings. If you have a chance to pickup a K7 for a good price get it because it is a good solid 7 string with a mahogany body. I would not recommend anyone go out and look for one specifically if they want a 7 string, there are plenty of viable options nowadays in that market.

Only three mic positions, good Floyd, VERY good handle my taste, speed of handling and adaptation record for a 7-string!

UTILIZATION

Again, the handle is really my taste excellent, very good balance (especially when you come out of years of Les Paul!). Touch trs enjoyable on the right forearm (well, for right-handed ....), even by sweating on stage.

Reverse the jack (the jack that was "back" of the guitar) is very useful when playing seated.

L is a drip pan ... the microphones, DiMarzio Paf7, are not really suited to the inspiration of the beautiful.
Especially in the bridge position, with a record of 1 cm map with the strings, all non-adjustable without the addition of calle (!) Under the microphones! Vritable a shame. The poor do not spit that Paf 220mV, gnial in the neck position for the bright / crunch, ridiculous easel for big sound!

I have this guitar since November 15 (so yesterday!) Is brand new but I used the 7-string handling so immediate.

L or to gte is on the importer IBANEZ FRANCE! Let me explain: the K-7 t command on October 11 and the delivery time limit of 12 days so silent. Houlala, so l. .. I quote from the trial of the guitar in "Guitarist Magazine": "... No doubt, these microphones possdent suprieur the average gain ..." How? That of the single coil pickups! Submitted microphones (two PAF7) are the least powerful of the range of 7cordes Dimarzio. Amateur fat saturation, go your way (yes, yes), unless you have a Dual Rectifier possdiez VHT or other, and again ... and the clear sound is warm, very hot (thank you PAF7 mahogany) and therefore also not too crystalline, since no single micro or split.
Remedies:
I changed the bridge by a PAF volution7, made a push pull splitter for everything (I now have 2 * 3 = 6 positions).
Results:
My God, my guitar would it change! Big (big), saturation, prcise, singing and neutral (the evolution rponse possesses a relatively flat curve), and the clean sound is beautiful: is hot (with the PAF humbucker) or when crystalline it is split.

OVERALL OPINION

As global opinion, I would say that this guitar is an excellent basis for customization, but it is primarily a product marketing hardcore.

The config is the same tjs;
24 round boxes, microphones PAF Pro 7, Lo Pro Edge (+ U Bar), a single volume knob and 3 position selector.
Mine is also a gray but I board had the chance to buy reasonably priced new one (qd importer of Ibanez had done).

UTILIZATION

The handle is not bad but it's still a 7-string (I personally much prefer the comfort of a 6-string).
There are no landmarks on it outside the fluorescent points (which is just right for the scene).
Access to treble is super easy (a condition not to play with a super long strap like me) thanks to the shape Ibanez.
Overall it is finished I trouve.Y has full details such as rounded heel at the junction of the neck and body such that make it pleasant and above all it is simple.

OVERALL OPINION

I have been using for over a year and dust.
I love the richness offered by the extra string but prefer the comfort of a 6 string.
I tried Universes and RG 7-string and my favorite is ca.
It is simple but has everything I need, it is well focused scene (including the input jack up the neon landmarks etc), I personally prefer the other (but Every one needs).
The value for money was ok but I had paid "only" in the new 1500.
In retrospect I think I buy it again even if I do not use it that much.
It's more a bonus to spice things up my guitar fetish, but I like it enough.

This guitar is made in Japan, after a look at the site ibanez we see that the size of this guitar are identical in all respects to the universe of Vai, so playing comfort level there no problems

I like the least and it is no longer manufactured! (Sniff!)
the price / quality ratio is excellent!
My next purchase will be July 1 certainnement strings and will be part of the list!
