The typical round of the model (Mustang) is really very practical and great fun after a long game if a little heavy.
Access to acute is easy and the sound is really good.

I play on a Marshall 15 watt ave in a grunge pedal Digitech what really fits well.

I play left in this model for over 5 months and it really is a superb instrument for playing grunge and punk (or alternative music).
Guitar is extremly unusual price is important but it is worth it.

This is really a great guitar.

I got this guitar back in 1996 from a local guitar shop in Cumming, Georgia. I paid about $350 for it. I was a big fan of Nirvana so I had to have it. It is also a 50th anniversary Fender so that was an extra bonus.

It plays beautifully. The neck is thin and very easy to play. It play a lot of Drop-d tuning heavy stuff and it is a breeze to flail your fingers rapidly across the neck. I replaced the single coil with a Seymor Duncun hot-rail and it boosted the volume and body of the guitar immensly. The humbucker plays worderfully for distored guitar (I use a DOD Death Metal distortion) and the new (six years old) single coil is wonderful with a clean channel or some chourus.

The only thing I didn't like about it was the Vibrato bar. Every time I use it the hole guitar drops down about half a step. I'd love to put a floyd rose bridge on it. Other than that, it is a wonderful guitar.

Very good construction. I've had for over 8 years and it still looks great. There a couple dings and stratches from the strap screw coming off while playing standing up it it tumbling to the ground. But I fixed that problem by putting on seat belt like strap locks and glueing the screws in.

Great guitar. My advise though is to get a new single coil, because the original is that hot, and a strap lock system of some sort. Other than that it plays and sounds wonderful and you drastically change the tone with a quick flick of a switch.

I bought this from the music store that I work at I believe most stores sell it for around 5 hundredish, I'm not telling you how much I got it for because you'd get mad at me, hehe...Oh, and it's the new reissue of the Jag-Stang, not the original issue from the early/mid nineties.

Well, first off, I'm a HUGE fan of Nirvana, so even if the guitar itself sucked I would want it just because of the sticker on the back that says "Designed by Kurt Cobain". However, the guitar plays just fine! It has that nice Nirvana sound to it, especially when you go fuzzed out through the humbucker, and the single coil gets a nice, bassy sound out of it. A word of caution, however. This is one of those guitars that you need to play before you buy, because some people love it and some people hate it. There aren't many people who are in between about it.

It goes out of tune easy because of the dynamic trem, and the finish scratches kind of easy. Also I think the Fiesta Red model is kind of ugly, but I got the Sonic Blue one so who cares?

Good solid construction, you could abuse it pretty well and it'd still work for awhile. (Remember, Fender made these assuming that Kurt would want to smash some of them!)

The bottom line? It's an overall great guitar, either as a collector's item, or a grunge guitarist's weapon of choice! I must reiterate, however...PLAY this one before you buy it!

I picked up this guitar used at Ancient Music in a town just south of Chicago. I paid only $200. But I got what I paid for.

The guitar has a nice sound to it. It has one single coil pick up at the neck and a humbucker at the bridge. I replaced the single coil with a Seymour Duncan Vintage for Jaguar. It sounds great (it has a Jaguar sound to it). With the right pedal (I use a super overdrive), it also has one of the best “fat” sounds around. Although I replace the pickup, there stock pickup still sounds nice. The off set body is comfortable and well balanced. The think neck plays very well. The pickup selectors give you a nice range of sounds. It’s a good guitar for soloists or rhythm.

The guitar I bought was used…. For only $200. Naturally there was improvement that needed to be done. A screw receiver on my Jagstang was broke, so I just replaced the whole pickup (as I stated before). It’s WELL worn. But that’s all minor. The biggest problem with this guitar is keeping it in tune.

The guitar was constructed beautifully, but its previous owner abused it. The paint, and some of the wood, was cracked but it still held up great and sounded excellent. The Fiesta red paint looks especially nice. Iv had no problem with the neck either. The action is good. Even though this guitar took a lot of abuse, it’s holding up very nicely.

This guitar is great for anyone who can get one. The range of sounds are amazing, the playability is great. The construction is great. It’s a nice, well-balanced guitar. I recommend this guitar for anyone looking for a solid, well built, nice sounding instrument.

I special ordered the reissue of the Fender Jag-Stang from Guitar Center for 399.99. The retail is 756.99 so I was lucky. I called because it was taking long and they said they had an original Japanese Fiesta Red 1996 version of this guitar for cheaper, it was used. So I went and got it. I paid a few hundred.

If ya'll did not know, the late Nirvana singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain designed it. He combined his two favorite Fender's Jaguar and Mustang. This guitar is pure genius, it has the ability to go from a mellow, soft sound, then when you switch on the switches on the top, it makes this metalish/grunge sound. Its awesome..

I dont like that it has a few dings in it, but that the used quality. It sort of went out of tune quick but oh well. I have no complaints really. Its sort of hard to find parts for the "unit". I wish that they would have had more colors besides "sonic blue and fiesta red" I originally ordered sonic blue, but couldnt wait, so I got this one. Its better because its the original.

Its a Fiesta red, bass wood body. With one single coil pickup, then a special design humbucker. Three way sliding in and out phase switches for the pickups,floating dynamic vibrato.

Just an over round great guitar. Worth the money. I feel sorry for the people who pay thousands of dollars for guitars, when all you need is this one right here. Sure its over 300.00 but dude, its great... if you want that signature messy grunge punk Nirvana sound, this is the guitar for you. This is not your grandpa's campfire guitar, its a lean,mean grunge machine!

i bought this unit from a strange man wearing a purple kaftan and a pair of tight levi's 501s. he was very abrupt and said he loved me. (it cost $399).

the sound of this unit is ace. it has the 3 pickups just like the strat but gives the sound a more cobainesque feel and tone.

the look of the guitar. it's quite ugly, but its not really the asthetics that makes the guitar. oh yeah the strap is really uncomfortable too. (but hey, you can just buy a new one).

quite well built, uncomfortable at times but ultimately the nirvana guitar so why complain?

great (if not ugly) guitar that kicks ass.

I purchased it new for $400 (in Slovenia).
It was the shape and colour (fiesta red) that caught my eye first...

The factory settings and hardware were/are good. I like heavier guitars, so this one was just right for me.
But what i really love is the fast neck. I've never played a Fender with such a neck before (neither now). It's simply great.


The Dynamic Vibrato makes it go out of tune very easy, but i don't use it very much, so it isn't a big deal for me.
The other thing is the finish that is really thin and gets scratched very fast. But i think that a scrached guitar is a guitar with character.

It's a Jaguar - Mustang clone, designed by Kurt Cobain. Has a bridge Humbucker and a neck single coil. The humbucker gives a powerful, crunchy sound (i use a Solton 100 Watt amp.), the single coil makes a nice bassy sound (which i use for playing it accoustic).
I had no problems with the tuners or knobs in the last six years i owned the guitar.

You will love it or you will hate it - it's simple as that. Overall i think it's a great guitar for the price i paid. Suitable for the beginner and with some modifications (pickup change) for the advanced too.
At least it's worth trying it out.

I got this guitar from my vocalist who was a former guitar player. I didnt pay him jack for it since he is my band, lol. Im pretty much borrowing it for the band. He bought this guitar at Strings and Things in Memphis, Tn in 98 I believe. Paid around $500 dollars for it.



This guitar does not deserve all the bad reviews it always gets. It is a sonic blue stang with 1 humbucker and 1 single coil which are very suitable for the grunge sound. I like it because it has a good feel to it. I have to admit that I had to get used to the sound of it because the humbuckers arent very high output in my mind. They sound great when raised around a in away from the strings though. If you have never played one I suggest you at least try the stang out. Alot of people give it a bad write up because it was designed by Kurt Cobain, but thats one of the reasons I like it. The different pickups phasings that is possible with the Jag-Stang make it very versatile. The neck is very slender which I love. I will eventually replace the pickups with a Fender blue lace sensor single coil and a Seymour duncan JB so I can get a more agressive sound out of it. The shape is fine with me since most of my guitars are sorta jaguar shaped anyways. I wouldnt get rid of it simply because its not in production anymore. It will surely be a collectors item one of these days.



The tremelo is the worst thing about this guitar. It has a mustang bridge and tremelo which I believe is called a Dynamic vibrato. If you use this, it will go out of tune instantly. I fixed this problem very easilt by wrapping electrical tape around the poles on the bridge. For more info to www.jag-stang.com. That is about the only way you will be able to remedy the problem. Besides that, the tuners are quite crappy. You would think Fender could put better tuners on guitars than their standard "vintage" series. They just arent worth a damn.



Very sturdy, no chips in the paint although ive heard about the pickguard peeling back on some peoples. I have no qualms about the guitar besides the fews things i've stated.



Three words. Try it out. Thats all there is to it. You'll never know if it's the right guitar for you until you do. I know a lot of people who like it and a lot of people that hate it, so you shouldn't buy it based on someone else's opnion. I think its a great guitar and I wouldn't let my vocalist get rid of it for anything (I would have to physically kill him).

The handle is extra! It is very short, easy to grip, I find it awesome (c probably the best part of the guitar).

Perfect for grunge, punk, hard.je played on a marshall all lamps.
main drawback of this skyscraper: the micro! double its still happening in saturation (the drool) well for simple rythmique.le euhh .. EHJV inches (in a skyscraper for solo).

I've changed the pickups, DiMarzio Kurt used a super distortion (twice) and a fender texas sp (just) so I have put a DiMarzio DP100 biensur super distortion and a DiMarzio dp174 red velvet (which is a version improves with more potato's fender texas sp).
with mics I must say ke was something else, it sounds serious (his real nirvana) in saturation as in the clear, warm, genial potato koi!

I have since May 2004 I find it fun with his blue shit (I love!) Form is original.
was my 4th so I just scratched easily compare it with DiMarzio has nothing to envy to my yamaha 812w (which as of Duncan) if not a re-tuning is left to each bag! lol at price c is correct, it was entitled to the same gig bag fender nickel.pour me it is a guitar collector (yes bah fan ...) then I regret to have buy in. .. but the veer microphones!!

I have one myself in the first edition, that s not the reissue so ...

I in fiesta red (the red reedition a'l'orange turns while on the first edition the red "Ferrari"). Japanese level is excellent workmanship, to have it disassemble I can say that the finishes are more caring than my strat US standard ... and yes the Yanks take on the seed.

vibrato is a shit let's be clear it does not hold the tuning, so I blocked.
electronics is the same as a mustang on the 3-position switch (off / parallel / DC) + 2 tone and volume pots

I play a fender rock pro 1000 combo (preamp lamps) on a 4 HP celestion speaker marshal: ca depot. I use a ds2 too.

the sound is pretty cradingue perfect for grunge and punk, is obtained in clean warm sound very nice, as is being quite slamming.

I have 6 years I think I love her she's beautiful finish is exemplary and is not expensive ...

The handle is really great and no problem. It's simple, we ride on the handle, all boxes are easily accessible. The handle is thicker than on other guitars that I played on but you get very quickly.

Well as everyone has said previously, we are often led to grant it, but good to take to Kurt is priceless.

Me c me personal, I find it heavier than the standard Fender Stratocaster, but it poses no real probems.

The sound is grunge, so dirty and disgusting. I have a multi effect KORG AGX 1500 and it's still a little dirty this with any purpose. I like so it's no wonder bp.

I play on a Marshall MG 30 watt amp, but could let g louder voice on a Fender amp preform 1000 (pre-amp tube) and c is that of happiness.

The sound is clear nikel, no worries on that side.

I have since June 2004, g it very difficult to have one in his re-editing, I suggest you take the blue like that Kurt used and again the red fiesta is really ugly, since c orange.

This guitar is legendary, one can only put it 10/10 so the designer has marked the history of rock. Its design reflects his personality: an unusual radical guitar unlike any other.

Finally the price: 500 euros. This is the cheapest Fender.

J've replaced the pickups with Duncan humbucker and split Vintages .. I also changed the wiring diagram of the microphones relative to siwchs adjustment: A swich by mic, position single coil / off / humbucker .. It gives a great versatility ..

Ideal for a pop rock style, with my microphone and a small tube amp for jazz also ensures ..
Not the best for metal core distos trash tdi ..
Single coil, sharp end, ideal for rhythmic, double, ideal for solos and distortion .. Both pickups together give a well full, mic bridge, gives a hollow sound and mic telecaster type handle provides a more accurate but serious ..

I have the 1997. The original mic are a little weak point of this guitar, although there is nothing qd much better known, these microphones totally agree ..
Very good value!
Suitable for those wanting a good guitar for beginners .. Can play 7 / 8 years without tiring ..

I am glad she is comfortable, there are no buttons 36, just two knobs and two slecteurs microphones, microphones can slecteurs surprise to beginners but it is trs quickly.

This guitar is suitable for Grunge, which is normal.On can also play with the rock, but nothing else (no mtal, no blues, no jazz ... nothing else). Then I'll talk about winning with this guitar changes. You will find tips and procedures.

Personal I'm going to be a micro "lipstick tube" and a phat cat in the bridge, Seymour Duncan at all this ........ gonna give!

Ben is great for the scraper must change everything but ............. the original microphone is really bad. Small jigs (or skinny like me, lol) will not appreciate its body too large (as thick as a telecaster)
against by the handle is very comfortable.

I use it for about a year and I was not disappointed by the quality / prix....et collector is then! I would just change into a beast.

Jag-stang a japanese in 2004 (2005 ?!)... fiesta red ... with a floating tremolo, a vintage stratocaster neck pickup if I'm not mistaken and a pickup designed especially for this guitar ... the handle is that of a Stratocaster, the settings of the microphones are quite strange, these are two switches ...

The handle is fine, we like it or not ... (Personally I like it quite handy for tapping ...)

Access to acute is very easy because of the shape of the guitar and the type of handle, however I find quite frets "small" ...

Having started my introduction to the electric guitar on this guitar I found it very heavy at the beginning (but it is actually very mild compared to a Les paul) ... it is very enjoyable to play ... if not

The sound is easily "dirty" (Kurt Cobain guitar requires) it Eput however, have a sound very sharp with good distortion and a good amp (and of course a good guitarist!: P) ... I would note, however, two caveats: one is that the high E string out of the handle easily in the early days, after a while you get used to it and roll ... the other downside is that the vibrato, after one or two pressures, tune the guitar ....

Being (or was) a fan of nirvana is actually very good ... but it should also fans of green day, sum 41 ... or also to those who do not want to be like everyone having a stratocaster but having nevertheless a clear sound with the microphone simple beauty ...

This is a guitar-oriented rather acute ... Distrust with disos amp, it is capricious, so ... (Microphones are not of a quality and phenomenal so it blows a lot of this on the disto amps anyway ...)

I use it for 2 years now, I love its form and its relatively "light" in revance keeping the agreement of actually leaves something to be desired ...
I think the honest value for money, not most excellent, but honest ...

For the same price ... I think I would do this choice, it is quite versatile because of its simple microphone and his double, and at least more original than a strato ...

-A yes response to the criticisms made on the vibrato down: I have no problem tuning with mine even when I used the vibrato (not a moderately floyd ..) and so has not come back well a flick of the rod and off again hh
-And also a tip: for a minimum of "consistency" and less of a problem tuning is better at least put the 52 has significantly reduced the friezes and other false ...

Ah! is the most beautiful ... lol! I THE FIRST version of 97 I believe ... The finish is good. But the guitar is quite small, was bizarre.

-Its pitch is very short, so his game is very flexible! The only problem is that it borders hard ...
Channel pais = trs little love, but a little too strait I got. However, it's really enjoyable to play on trs. a running alone. Pure DLIC!
Frets = fine-love, but they wear out quickly trs.
Keys lgrement-curves (type vintage) = I also love, but making a bend in the dlicat more acute.
The switch-on microphones are not used more ISSA ... So, in concert, there will likely plutt keep the same position of microphones.
Beau-vibrato is bad but the tuning (Argh!). I have blocked!
Changing strings-not very easy because the bridge-shaped tube.
Note well-rgler harmonics, which is not easy with this bridge.
-A little heavy despite its small size. The body is quite pais, probably because of the vibrato.
Good balance, despite the form. Though not as ergonomically even when a strat.

Type disto-rock 90 '. Trs not versatile.
Overall, not bad. Can give a good clear sound and a sound saturated correct.

Personally I replaced the humbucker for a Dimarzio Evolution Neck DP-158 and I replaced the Single for a real Texas spcial Strato.
